It's the weekend

24 06 2006

Well, thank goodness it’s the weekend again. It’s been a funny last few days. Amy was home from school on Thursday with a 24hr stomach bug so instead of our usual busy day we were home ALL day. I got a few jobs done in the kitchen, made soup, cookies and veggie pie for dinner, did a little scrapbooking, and played some games with the kids. It was actually a very nice day (for me, not for Amy). Yesterday I did Pump at the gym, then went to the doctors were I had the steroid injection for my heel spurs. She said it will take a few days to come into effect. I so hope it works - I just want to be able to walk without pain - not too much to ask I don’t think. Today the pain is not as sharp but it’s uncomfortable to walk. Took Christy to upslide down for a play and lunch. After school the girls went to a friends to play and I sat and read my book for book group today. It’s been a LONG time since I just sat and read in the afternoon and it was SOOO nice. Made veggie korma and cous cous for dinner.
Today is my book group and Kevin is supposed to be home to look after the girls. But he’s got lots of work to do so I’ve had to call on Mum and Dad. Lucky they will be home but I don’t get to go to the gym - didn’t want to ask Mum to have them then as well. So I’m a little miffed. Will go and get dressed and try to do a bit of a tidy up around the house - especially the scrapbook room.

Been busy

20 06 2006

Haven’t updated for a bit. Had a busy few days last week (school walk-a-thon, Disney on Ice and all the normal goings on plus getting organised for my weekend away). Had a great girls weekend in Culburra scrapbooking, eating, chatting and relaxing. Came home and went to see Mick play at the pub - was great to finally get to go.
Went to gym this morning, into town to pick my book for bookgroup on Saturday (will have to start it tonight), playgroup, home, thoroughly cleaned the fridge, then school, groceries, dinner. Am pretty tired tonight and my heal spurs are absolutely killing me. Am going to the doctors on Thursday to try and get them fixed. I’ve been having problems since Jan and I am absolutely sick of it. I can’t even walk the kids to school - it’s so frustruating.

Amy off school

13 06 2006

Was an unusual day with Amy home from school. Luckily Christy seems to be better, though she did end up in our bed around 4am so Kev & I are now pretty tired. After doing my daily jobs I went to the gym (did weights and 20mins bike). Then I took the girls to see “Cars”, the new Disney movie. It was pretty good, though I think I enjoyed it more than the girls. Christy got a bit grouchy and wanted to leave but then fell asleep on my lap so I think she just wasn’t 100%. After the movie we had some lunch, did a bit of shopping, then went to buy hay so I could clean the guinea pig cage. I’ve just finished making sweet potato rissoto for dinner and might go and spend some time sorting photos.

Queen's Birthday holiday

12 06 2006

Well, any excuse for a public holiday is okay by me but it’s always puzzled me why it’s in june when the Queen’s birthday is not - very weird. Anyway, had a pretty quiet one. Pottered around some more this morning - finally got the sheets washed since it wasn’t raining - then Kevin overfilled the spa and flooded the backyard so they had to go in the dryer anyway. Spent some time reorganising the scrapbook room. Mum invited us for lunch -which was nice and we played Disney Monopoly again. Came home with Christy complaining she felt sick - and not much later she was. Poor little pet - just hope it comes out of the carpet - right in our bedroom doorway…. We all settled down to watch Fat Albert and she promptly fell asleep. I’m glad Amy’s not going to school tomorrow as I don’t feel mentally ready - not sure if that makes any sense and maybe if she was going I would feel fine. I just really enjoy lazy weekends like this where I don’t have to rush around doing things and actually get to spend time at home. Much as I love the gym, not going gives me a good extra few hours to do things. But I will go tomorrow provided Christy is feeling okay (Mum will look after Amy). Then I have a big long list of things to do.

Happy Moments - seeing my scrapbook area nice and tidy

Lazy Sunday

11 06 2006

We’ve had a VERY lazy day - cold, wet, windy weather didn’t inspire my energy so I’ve pretty much pottered around the house. Spent time reading e-mail, reading some of my fav websites, going through our old home movies (Kevin is trying to get them all on our server so I can watch them when I want), baked a brownie slice, tried to tidy up a little (not that you’d think so now). Kevin went into the office so the girls and I enjoyed takeawy for lunch - was a great day for a hot chip sandwich. This afternoon I’ve done a bit of scrapbooking and started re-organising things in the scrapbook room. Will be a good project for the week ahead with being home more and a scrapbook weekend away coming up.
Another thing I need to work on this week is less takeaway - I think we had it 3 times in the last week, plus went out once. Naughty I know. I LOVE cooking but have been feeling very lazy come time to make dinner. Plus my heal spurs are often mucking up by that time. Well, no excuse this week - I can make dinner earlier and just reheat it when it’s time.
