Overdue update

30 08 2006

Well, it’s been a while since I updated. Life moving along pretty swiftly. Had a nice weekend. On Saturday I went for a bike ride in the morning, got some fruit & veg, pottered a bit, then had my book group in the afternoon. Kevin (with the girls help) made another veggie garden. Poor thing, he was so exhausted. I would never have asked him to do it on his own. A friend was supposed to help but didn’t and Dad was out for the afternoon, and so was I. It looks great and I feel very loved that he made it for me. So of course, Sunday was spent buying seedling for the garden, then planting them in the afternoon. The girls also got fitted for their snow suits - they look so cute - and we had lunch at Chili’s. We finished off with a spa - looking out at the new veggie garden. It was a really nice weekend.
This week has been going as normal - except Amy has a cough and has been waking me up at 5am with her coughing. So I’m feeling pretty tired. Getting everything organised for the snow trip - we leave Friday morning. Then we’ve got Christy’s party the next weekend so it’s pretty busy around here. I’m off now to do some scrapbooking while Christy is at preschool.

My Wonderful Weekend

20 08 2006

On Friday afternoon Kevin & I headed up to Sydney (without the kids) to see Cirque de Soliel’s Varekai. Now can I say to describe it - amazing, wonderful, brilliant, innovative, jaw-dropping, inspiring, colourful, moving, and most of all breathtaking acts of human abilities. Words really cannot describe it’s brilliance. This is the forth show we’ve seen and everytime I’m reminded that the human animal is really the most talented of them all and we certainly don’t need to see exotic animials perform unnatural tricks (we refuse to go to those ones). After the show we grabbed some dinner at Fox Studios and headed over to the Novotel Darling Harbour where we spend the night. We watched a movie and enjoyed our harbour view. On Saturday morning we had a buffet breakfast then caught the monorail around to the city. I had wanted to buy a book on Disneyland but couldn’t get one (will need to order it from Amazon). We also got some Mrs Fields cookies - yum. I did buy another book - Feeding Vegetarian Kids and Kevin bought Amy Walking with Dinosaurs -since she’s been watching the DVDs.
We then drove to Miranda - did some more shopping, had some lunch, and went and saw Miami Vice. It was okay, though a little hard to follow and they didn’t play the theme music (not even in the credits). But Colin Farrel made up for it. We arrived home around 5pm. It was nice to see the kids again but we’d had such a nice time just the two of us. We had a spa, some dinner, then watched the behind the scenes of Verakai - watched half the episodes as it hooked us in.
Today became a bit of a workday but I feel good about what I achieved. Kevin went up to Sydney to test drive some scooters. Spent quite a bit of time out in the garden - planting new veggies and spraying all our organic fertilizers, etc. Oh, and I finally finished the Captain Jack Sparrow jigsaw I’ve been working on since the beginning of July. It was the most challenging puzzle I’ve done but I finsihed it.
Can’t believe we’re off to the snow in just 2 weeks - will need to get the girls clothes organised next weekend. Seems funny when it’s been so warm here and Kevin just put the solar heater back on the pool.

Spring is here

17 08 2006

Well, Spring is here - though a little early and some of my trees haven’t yet lost all their leaves. This week has seen glorious weather and the girls and I have been taking full advantage by riding to and from school. It has also meant I had to go shopping for new sandles and some 3/4 lenght pants. Christy and I did that today. I got two pairs of sandles from Kumfs - both same colour but different styles. Christy also got her Summer sandles, and I got some new clothes and nail polish. We had a nice time out.
Unfortunately I jumped on my foot that other day (when I became unbalanced on my bike) and my heal spur has been sore ever since. If it’s still sore after the weekend I’ll go back and see Dr Moss and get another injection.
Christy has had fun giving out all her birthday invitations and is really looking forward to her big day. Amy changed her swimming day to Tuesday. She didn’t like her repleacement teacher but seems happy with Jack, her new teacher. Don’t know if she just prefers male swimming teachers or she had a personality class with the other one. It means a big day now on Tueday - Dancing drom 4- 4.45, then swimming from 5-5.30pm but it means today, Thurs, we only have cheerleading.
Kevin and I are off to see Vareki tomorrow afternoon (I made the mistake of booking for Fri afternoon instead of Sat afternoon) and we are staying overnight at the Novotel Darling Harbour. Should be nice - it’s been ages since we’ve had a weekend away.
I’m off now to work some more on my Pirates of the Carribean jig saw - I WILL finish it one day (started at the beginning of July)

Things back to normal

12 08 2006

Well, it’s been back to normal this week - no sick kids, school, gym, after school activities, etc. We’ve decided to sell my car so I’ve now got Kevin Prius and he’s ordered another prius for himself - in the meantime he’ll ride the motorbike. I like driving the prius - so much smaller than the Voyager (and a LOT cheaper to run). The only downside so far is we probably won’t be able to take our bikes to Murramarang - and I was really looking forward to riding. I guess I could rent a bike.
Went to the gym this morning, took cake and presents over to celebrate Poppy’s birthday, then rode over to the park where we met some friends. The girls rode and played and we had hot chips for lunch. It was lovely out sitting in the sunshine. Not long now till Spring.
Planning is underway for Christy’s birthday party next month. She’s having a Disney Princess Party with about 12 little friends - GIRLS ONLY!!

Friends for lunch

6 08 2006

Had a lovely day. We had friends over for lunch (Hi Sam!!!). The kids all played great and it was nice to catch up, enjoy a meal, listen to Kevin’s stories and generally relax.
Christy is certainly back to her normal loud self and has barely stopped talking (probably catching up on being quiet all last week). I felt a bit ill yesterday afternoon but was fine this morning.
Anyway, I’m off now to have leftover salad for dinner, watch a movie with Kevin and get ready for another busy school week.

Better at last

5 08 2006

Well, thankfully Christy is finally a lot better. Amy went to school yesterday and Christy was actually interested in playing with her toys and eating a little more food. I cleaned the kitchen - boy does it look good - and did a few other jobs. Before lunch Christy and I played Guess Who and Uno and we did a bit of scrapbooking before walking up to the school to pick up Amy. It was drizzling but we missed the heavy rain so that was good.
The girls had a party to go up in Sydney in the afternoon/evening and since they were both feeling better we went. Again, we seemed to only get a bit of really heavy rain. Amy had a great time and Christy did okay for 1.5hrs then wanted to go home. After not doing anything all week, it will probably take her awhile to get her energy levels back up. We got McDonalds to have for tea on the way home, but Christy fell asleep before eating many of her fries. Amy also fell asleep. We got home about 8.30pm, put the girls to bed, then I went to bed to finish a book.
When I was awake last night I was thinking about how much better I’m feeling
about everything. So much so that I’m even looking forward to hosting
Christy’s birthday party at home next month (when back in March
I couldn’t
cope with the thought of having one at home for Amy). When we moved when
planned on doing lots of entertaining and while we’ve been having more
friends over for lunch we haven’t as yet had a party. I proposed we have a
Halloween party (it will also mark the one year mark we moved in). He said
yes, so the kids and I are all pretty excited about that. And we’ll be able
to use the full size plastic skeleton that
dh came home with the other day.
It’s now Saturday morning and wet and cold outside. Christy is still sleeping and I’m headed to the gym. I’m not feeling all that great so might just do upper body weights and come home. If I feel okay I’ll do some cardio as well. Can’t believe I haven’t been for 7 whole day. I know I will be sore tomorrow.

Wednesday evening

2 08 2006

Poor Christy is still sleeping. She has spent all day on the lounge either sleeping or watching TV - actually she’s been there or in bed the last 3 days. Amy is now not feeling well - but after a bath was feeling well enough to have some veggie soup and bread for dinner. Hopefully it won’t come to anything more. And Mum is sick in bed - she’s been looking after Christy while I’ve taken Amy to school and picked her up.
Had Amy’s parent teacher interview this afternoon and she had a glowing report as expected - though she does talk to her best friend Emerson a bit much.
I had a nice afternoon sorting through all the all photos - from 71 to 90 (from 91 onwards is already scrapbooked). I lot of photos I didn’t have dates so just had to guess. It’s been a big job and now I have the fun of scrapbooking them - won’t do much with most of the them as the photos aren’t great quality and a lot are that little square size.
Anyway, Kevin is home from work so I’m going to get off the computer (plus my back is killing me - I am so not used to sitting down all day).

Wednesday Morning

2 08 2006

Well, poor Christy is still unwell. She did manage some toast for lunch yesterday but nothing since. I spent yesterday pottering around the house, not doing much, though I did get the groceries and washed the car when Amy was at dance lessons. Today I rode to school with Amy. It took me 15mins there and back so was good to get in a bit of cardio. I’ll ride back this afternoon for my parent-teacher interview and to come home with her. It seems funny not having been to the gym since last Friday. I’m going to be for a hell of a workout when I get back there. I’ve got some cookies in the oven and the clothes in the washing. Today I’m going to try and finish organising my old photos. It’s been a real trip down memory lane looking at them and reading my old diaries. I’ve even got an entry on the day I first met Kevin - 11th March, 1983 - I was just 12 at the time.

Monday or Tuesday

1 08 2006

Not sure whether it’s Monday night or Tuesday morning - technically it’s 4.30am Tues. Couldn’t sleep so got up to play on computer. Chirsty is still unwell - she was sick on Sunday and still today. Took her to the doctors but she said it’s just a virus and give her lots of fluids. She’s spent the day watching TV or asleep. Poor little thing - she’s feeling so miserable. Hopefully she’ll feel better in the morning but the doctor did say most people are suffering for at least 3 days. With her not doing much, I just got stuck into doing the Weekly Home Blessing like I normally do on Mondays (that’s cleaning the house for those of you not familiar with Flylady (www.flylady.net).
Amy was pretty excited tonight when Kevin bought home a full size plastic skeleton. He bought it for educational purposes but Amy already has plans for Halloween. He wants to leave it in the loungeroom but you can imagine what I said to that.
Anyway, before I head back to bed, I’m going to try posting a recent picture of the girls. Okay, couldn’t do that so here’s a photo of Disneyland in 1992.
