Sydney Royal Easter Show 2008

31 03 2008

100_1487

Yesterday we went to the Easter show with Nanny & Poppy and had the most fabulous day. The weather was JUST PERFECT. Not too warm and with a nice breeze to take a bit of the heat out of the sun. The main reason for the trip was to see all the animals so I explained to girls before we left there would not be lots of rides for them (they can go on all they want when we go to Surfers in 3 weeks time) and just 2 showbags - one food and on crap - oops, I mean novelty :-). We ended up coming in the back entrance which meant we were going the opposite way to the crowds - which was great.

First we got showbags (no crowds) and put them in a locker.

We then went through the art and food pavilions. I just LOVED this easter show cake - so clever.

A highlight was doing the animal walk and seeing lots of farm animals.

The girls got to help sheer a sheep.

As always the baby ducks were a favourite. Though Christy loved watching the newly hatched chicks even more. We couldn’t get her away.

Personally I loved the cows.

This is how I found Kevin after going through the dog pavillion. No, he isn’t drunk or exhausted - he had a sore back….

A peaceful place to rest

29 03 2008

img_5633

I’ve been thinking about getting new bedding for a few months now and finally decided to take the plunge since most of it was 30% off (and Christy drew on our bed with ink!!!!). Firstly I needed a fleecy underlay - since losing weight, hence losing a lot of my padding, I’ve been getting sore when I lie down for more than a few hours. I also decided to try ALL white bedding for that “hotel” feeling. I was a bit nervous but I LOVE how it looks. So clean and fresh and oh, so, peaceful. And yes, I did have a great nights sleep, with no sore body parts…… but Kevin complained of a sore back this morning…. go figure!!!

The new bedding - what do you think looks better?

Rosie on the bed

Rosie - already at home on the new-look bed. We just have to be more vigilant for muddy paws now :-).

Little girls in winter pajamas

img_5165

I don’t know what it is but I have always loved seeing little girlsin Winter PJs - my little girls to be more exact. I think it’s because they look so nice and snuggly and all ready for a good nights sleep. It’s just starting getting cool at night here so the girls are wearing their new jammies. And Christy loves the new dressing gown she got from Nanny for Easter - it is SOOOOO soft.

Easter Vacation at Burrill Lake

25 03 2008

img_5465

We headed off down the coast to Burrill Lakes with the Powells. They were staying in Leanne’s parents on-site van and my Mum & Dad took down their van for us to use. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather - in fact on Saturday it was down right freezing - and we only got to beach one day. The kids all had a blast and loved the freedom that camping brings.

On Friday we took the kids to a local park for a play and game of cricket.

Then they did some plaster painting later in the afternoon

img_5471img_5479

while the Dad’s “played” on their laptops.

img_5469

Saturday was very cold and drizzly so we headed into Ulladulla for a look around.

img_5483

Not too impressed with the shopping but did pick up some yummy Singapore Noodles to have for lunch. Back at the caravan park there was kids clubs for a couple of hours - which the girls enjoyed.

img_5485

Kevin spent much of today huddled under a blanket. Now that he’s lost 37kg he’s finally feeling the cold.

img_5486

Easter Sunday my girls were up early and eager to see what the bunny had left for them. This year it was new jammies and an egg.

img_5496img_5500img_5504

Later on we went to the beach for a couple of hours and couldn’t get over the change from yesterday.

img_5540

The girls enjoyed an ice-cream

img_5585

Monday morning it was again drizzly so we got up, packed and on the road just after 9am. The girls feed the local birds for the last time before we left.

img_5532img_5594img_5599

T he poor Powells left an hour after we did and hit ALL the traffic. It took us two and half hours to get home (normally 2 hours) and it took them nearly 6 hours (normally 3 hours).

Farewell to Belle

24 03 2008

img_4821

Very sad news last night. Mum rang to say was Belle was very ill and they were taking her to the vets. She couldn’t move and might have to be put to sleep - which she was. I’m so glad Mum & Dad were able to be with her at the end. She was nearly 14 and we’ve known for a while she wouldn’t last much longer. Sounds like she may have broken or damaged her spine so much she couldn’t get up. Poor girl. She was a great friend. At least now we don’t have to worry if she’s in pain and suffering. It’s a bit strange being home and seeing her bed all empty - she spent most of the day lying on it in the scrapbook room. It will be worse when I go to do some scrapbooking.

Cards

19 03 2008

Once I recovered from cleaning and today’s workout, I went and made a card for a party Christy was attending this afternoon. While I was at it I made up some Easter cards. I’m really happy with how they came out.

Colouring Eggs

19 03 2008

img_5380

Yesterday the girls decided they wanted to colour some eggs. I sent them outside and left Amy in charge (I was packing Mum & Dad’s van for the Easter weekend). They had fun and even had eggs races after they’d coloured them. Didn’t even make too much mess either.
