Layouts to share

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Okay, so I’ve not been doing ANY scrapbooking this week – too busy with my bum on the lounge watching the Olympics, but I thought I’d share some recent layouts.

Still working on some digital ones. I quite enjoy it but think hybrid scrapbooking might be more my thing -esp as I can only make 6×6 or 8.5×11 digital pages, and then have to wait to have them printed!

Digital Scrapbooking

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As my long term readers will know I’ve been wanting to try digital scrapbooking for a few years. Finally I saw a real opportunity with Renee Pearson’s Just the Basics class. Class started last week. I immediately discovered we had Photoshop Elements 5 and I needed 6,7 or 8 for class. Kevin finally got me version 6 so today I was able to complete week 1 (just in time for week 2 to arrive). Having Renee talk it through step by step is wonderful and just what I needed. I watched the videos, then listened to them while I followed on PSE (switching back and forth as need). The result 2 digital layouts that I am rather proud of, even if it’s so totally not my normal style. The theme was robots but luckily was neutral enough I was able to find photos to go with it.

Who knows in a few weeks I might even be able to complete the few online classes I started that were largely digital!

*****You can tell I’m new to this. Design credit for the digital kit “Arbot” goes to  Jackie Eckles of www.littledreamerdesigns.com

***** To make it very clear all I added was the photos and title/journalling :-) .

I have a bit of a Croc addiction!! Really….I currently have 8 pairs. Kevin and the girls all have 2 pairs as well. So I think it’s safe to say we all love Crocs.

IMG_4811

Yesterday I finally got around to scrapbooking our trip to the Croc shop last July – oh, what fun that was. Here is the journalling…

“Okay, I have to confess our family is just a “little” bit obsessed with Crocs. And to say we were a little excited to spot the Croc shop in Perth would be a big understatement.  I can still remember Kevin telling me how good they would be for my heel spur – but I thought they were a bit ugly. We eventually all bought a pair for our houseboat holiday in Jan 2007. Once worn I’ve hardly stopped. Indeed they were fab. for the 18 month I suffered with the heel spur. Since that first pair my collection has grown vastly and includes many different style. The girls and Kevin also own a few pairs. I just lOVE them and wear them 90% of the time. They really feel great and because they are comfy I’m happy to leave them on. Oh, to live in the Croc shop!! “

Operation Clean Up : Scrapbook Room

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Firstly, if you couldn’t see the photos on yesterday post I believe Kevin has solved the problem for me.

Secondly, I’m obviously not going to get the whole house sorted as I’d hoped but I’m still pleased with the progress I’ve made.

Over the last few days I’ve been working on the scrapbook room. I took out the non-working computer (after giving up waiting for Kevin) and did some re-arranging.

Now that we no longer use this area as a desk area I’m going to look for some more storage to put underneath.

Before : The girls area – used for both the computers and craft!

Before : My area: Yes, I know I did the desk a few weeks back but I didn’t do the shelves !!!!

After: Just realized these shelves still look kind of messy.

The girls and I also went through all these drawers but I won’t bore you with the photos :-)

New scrapbook organising goodies

IMG_3729

I needed to buy a new Making Memories desk organiser (after I stole the one for the scrapbook desk for the computer desk). When I was ordering it I decided to buy the carousel as well and try and get my desk organised once and for all. I managed to find a bit of time to other day to get things organised and I’m very happy with it. Can’t wait for some time to scrapbook now.

So my desk went from a messier version of this…

For Jody!!

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Jody asked me to share some of the cruise album so here you go. I used an 8×8 album and some Making Memories pre-printed travel pages I’d had for some time, mixing in with other papers. I kept it pretty simple, most photos are 4×3 and I just copied the journaling right from my blog.

Journal Your Christmas

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Yes, it’s that time of year again – time to compile my Journal Your Christmas album. Being that we arrive back home from the cruise on the 1st Dec I thought I’d best get to together before we leave. This year I decided to go with a 6×6 album – hoping it won’t be too small. I plan to print out smaller photos at home every couple of days.

I’ve left the inside pretty plain for now and will add embellishments after I see how much room the photos and journalling takes up.

You can find out about this years class on here. What I love is that once you join, you can join in every other year FOR FREE!!! Not often that happens is it?

Yesterday I made up this gorgeous card holder with a Bo Bunny kit – love it! So quick (took about an hour) and so easy. Now I just need some Christmas cards :-) .

P is for Parking

Friday, November 6th, 2009

IMG_0325

Todays post is bought to you by the letter “P” or should that be “S” for Shimelle’s Blogging for Scrapbookers class.

Okay, yes I know parking is strange topic for a blog post, but I need to know I’m not alone in my parking habits.

Whenever I go to the local mall I always try and park in the same isle – the one in front the main entrance. I’m sure everyone thinks I do this because I’m lazy but I’m not. I don’t even care which end I park at. I do this so I don’t have to try to remember where I’ve parked the car! Yes, you all know I have a shocking memory so this takes away the worry of losing my car. If I have to park in a different isle I really have to make a note of where the car is so I can find it again. And I have to admit I have a similar strategy for nearly all big car parks – I always park in the same area :-) . Does anyone else do this?

This is not to say I don’t get just a little bit excited when I get a rare spot by the door!!!! No where near enough to stop and take a photo! Well, I did but I was documenting a day in my life :-) .

Here’s the layout – this one took like 10mins!
