Bush, butterfly’s and bananas

We kind of did it all today. We left our hotel room about 8am and headed down the coast and then up into the mountains. Absolutely breathtaking scenery. It’s called Waterfall Way cause of all the waterfalls – some even beside the road.

We went mainly to see this view from the boardwalk.

We stopped in Dorrigo for some morning tea.

Visited another waterfall. Would be lovely to be able to do some of the walks but we weren’t really dressed for it. Maybe next time.

Headed back down the mountain for the Butterfly House. This was really nice and the guides very informative. I, for one, did not know that butterflys only live for 3 weeks.

While we were there there was a film crew from Sydney Weekender and both girls were filmed. We’ll have to watch at the end of the month to see if they made the final cut.

After spending about an hour with the butterflys we went through their maze and then had some lunch at the cafe. This was such a great spot and there were things to do while the kids waited for their lunch. Definitely a place to visit if you’re in the area.

Our last stop for the day was the Big Banana (though it’s not as big as I remember from my childhood).

We watched a film about the banana and the banana industry in Australia and then did a short tour of the plantation. Was very interesting and the girls enjoyed it. We even got a free banana.

We were back in the room about 4pm and since I was feeling pretty tired and Christy was mucking up a bit we just watched some TV and ordered room service for dinner. Amy was asleep by 6pm, Christy by 7pm and me not long after.
