Living in a dust bowl

Dust storm

This is what we awoke to this morning. A dust storm had blown in (something I’ve NEVER encountered before) and turned to world orange.

Amy and I still went for our morning walk but it was rather strange today – we could only see a few meters in front of us and EVERYTHING was covered in dust.

Not our normal view of the lake.

I felt sorry for this little guy.

Snail in the Dust storm

You can hardly see our house.

Upon returning home I realized how much dust had also gotten into the house – it was stinking hot yesterday so almost all the window were open until we got some rain during the night. Some, like the front door, were still open so I had a nice layer of dust throughout the home. I’ve dusted, vacuumed and moped but am thinking I’ll still be finding dust for some time to come. I am absolutely dreading cleaning outdoors!!!!

It sounds like it was worse in Sydney. While it’s cleared a lot it’s supposed to hang around most of the day.

  1. @ annies…LOL, I can answer that…it came from our place, in South Australia. We had gale force winds on Monday, and our place looked just like the photos here.
@ Libby…good luck with the house dusting 🙂 Luckily we have had quite a bit of rain yesterday and overnight…everything outside washed clean! ( I won’t mention how all that dust is now mud *grins*)
Love your blog by the way!

  2. We had our windows all shut up – and everything is *still* covered in a fine layer of dust.. It seems like it’s started to clear here.
