The countdown is on

I decided to skip doing my food blog until after our trip as things seem to be getting busy around here as the countdown continues. Plus food might be a bit boring as we try and use up what’s already in the house. But I’ve changed my mind…for now…

It’s so cold in the mornings now that I keep putting off my workouts. Instead I’ve decided to move them till later in the day. So this morning I got up and started the day reading blogs while enjoying a cup of tea.

Breakfast was spaghetti on toast. Perfect on this cold morning.

Once the girls headed off to school I got started on todays chores – which included cleaning upstairs with a thorough clean of both bathroom and our bedroom. It took me till nearly 1pm with a break around 10.3oam for a green smoothie.

Boy was I glad to sit and enjoy my lunch – salad with a lentil pattie and roast garlic dressing.

Tired as I was I still managed to find some energy to take the dogs on a walk. This afternoon I got a few more jobs done, made some fresh bread for the girls and more of those healthy cookies.

My afternoon snack was some slightly stale protein crisps.

Dinner tonight was chili con carne (made with TVP) served with some tortilla chips. Topped with a bit of cheese and some low-fat sour cream. Yum!

Lastly I enjoyed a cup of tea and two of the cookies.

Tropical Muffins

Kevin and Amy were off for a day painting his office but they were kind enough to wait till I got back from the gym. Before I left I had a snack of corn thins with cottage cheese. I wasn’t really in the mood to eat just yet but knew it would be best before such an intense workout.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a Saturday morning and I surprised to have the cardio room to myself. It was just after opening at 7am but I was still suprised. I did 20min on the elliptical and 20mins on the bike. Back home I cooled down and had a shower. Around 9am Christy woke up so I made her some french toast for breakfast and I had an egg on toast with a cup of tea.

Since breakfast had been so late I didn’t bother with a morning snack, instead I had a very punctual lunch of leftover salad, a heaping of hummus, a boiled egg and slice of turkish bread.

I really thought I’d be wanting to eat today but I wasn’t bothered. I had some grapes around 3pm.

Then around 4pm a tropical muffin as seen on Oh She Glows. Yummy and healthy! Kevin and Amy enjoyed them too.

Around 5.30pm I was hungry but with dinner time fast approaching I decided on a green smoothie as I was a bit low of fruit & veg today.

IMG_0172

Of course, then I didn’t get hungry again. Amy had eaten around 6pm and Kevin wasn’t feeling too well so eventually around 7pm I decided to have my dinner. It was Mexican Rice – brown rice, TVP, corn, black beans and seasoning- topped with tomato and some sour cream. It was a little bland though and I didn’t really enjoy it much. I ate about 2/3.

A new week has begun…

It’s a new week and I’m ready to get back on the healthy eating wagon. Started the day with a lovely walk by the lake and a green smoothie.

Then it was on with cleaning the house and a yummy falafel salad for lunch.

IMG_6526

Afternoon tea was some tiny teddies I found while cleaning out the kitchen :-(.

Dinner was a burritos made with TVP, cheese and tomato. And don’t you just love how bright tonights photo is? Kevin got me a new camera – isn’t he a sweetie! I can’t believe how much better it is.

And supper…the last of the ice cream (no more until we’re back from the UK) and a choc strawberry bought yesterday.

I’m all geared up and ready to get back on track with the Red Carpet Ready program. Which means no cakes, cookies, lollies, ice cream and only the occasional dark chocolate until we leave for the UK in 5.5 weeks. It’s crunch time!
