Yep, I’ve been a bad, bad blogger yet again. The last few weeks I’ve been crazy busy but I think (hope) that it’s all behind me now. And I should be able return to blog on a more regular, and more current, basis. Not only have I been a bad blogger but I’ve not even read another blog in WEEKS!!! Oh, dear – I just looked and I have over 2,000 unread blog posts!!!! I guess I know what I’ll be doing over the Summer holidays :-).
Anyway, on with last weekend. Which started with seeing Catching Fire in Gold Class with Amy & Kevin. We all loved it. Christy visited with the Powells and we had a little chat & tea with them when we picked her up.
Saturday morning I took the pups on a big 40 min walk because they would be on their own all day.
Then we headed up to Sydney to visit with my Mum. We stopped along the way so I could buy this Christmas bear for her. How cute is he? Think I might need to go buy one for me as well :-).
We had a really nice visit with Nan (Mum) who is doing SOO much better than last weekend.
Amy gave her a lesson in selfies.
And check out the view from her new room. Even on this yucky morning you can see see Centerpoint and the Harbour Bridge.
After our visit we headed over to Darling Harbour and had lunch at Grill’d.
Loved this place. I had the Garden Goodness and it was so yummy. Unfortunately I didn’t save the photo I took of it :-(.
Then it was time to visit the Maritime Museum.
We had given Kevin a family ticket to see the Viking Exhibition. When we got there we found it also included entrance to the boats. And since both girls were tall enough, we decided to do that first :-).
First up was the HMAS Onslow.
I was rather nervous to go on the submarine but it wasn’t as bad as I had feared.
Not sure I’d want to be on it under the sea or if it was crowded, but I enjoyed my visit.
Next was the HMAS Vampire.
Inside it was like stepping back to the 60s.
We tried to take a family selfie. This was Kevin’s attempt…
and this was mine…
Christy had fun sitting in the gun firing seat.
The weather had cleared up from this morning and it was the perfect day to be by the water.
We checked out the viking boat replica. It holds 70 people!!!
Then finally we got to the Viking exhibit.
All the artifacts were found in Sweden, which we thought was cool since we’ve been there.
While we enjoyed the exhibit, it really wasn’t as good as we had hoped/expected it to be. Like always, a guided tour would have been beneficial.
There was a quick stop before leaving at the British lolly shop. Even though I’m not eating sugar at the moment, my family were desperate to pick out some goodies.
I wasn’t interested at all until I spotted a fav. I had discovered in Germany (that is obviously sold in the UK as well) -milky way crispy rolls. But funnily enough I still haven’t eaten it yet:-).
After a very busy day on Saturday, we all just wanted a day at home on Sunday. I spent the day putting up the Christmas tree (with Christy’s help) and decorating the home.
I’ll share some more photos in a future blog post. And if you want to see more of our weekend be sure to check out my day in the life vlogs.
On Saturday Kevin, Amy & I went to the Nan Tien Temple. It’s just 10mins away from home but it’s been some time since we last visited. Christy still wasn’t feeling well so wanted to stay home.
It was REALLY hot day out but it was good to be out enjoying the lovely day.
First stop was the Dew Drop Inn for some lunch. Even though they had added some new items to the menu, I just ordered the mince & rice like I always do.
With a chai latte, of course. So good!!!
After lunch we took a stroll around the lotus pond, which is not yet in flower….
and then up to the temple, where I took too many photos as normal.
If you’d like to see more of my day, which also included a date with Kevin, be sure to check out my day in my life vlog.
On Saturday I took Amy and 2 of her friends up to Sydney to the Supanova Pop Culture Expo. I took my ipad thinking I’d just hang out somewhere, but I ended up having a fabulous time. So much so I could easily have gone again the next day. I filmed a vlog sharing our day.
And here are some of the photos.
In addition to all the cosplayers you could meet and be photographed with, there was stuff to buy…
talks by the special guests, like Eve Myles from Doctor Who and Torchwood (Amy also got her autograph)…
presentations on things like costume design…
and makeup special effects…
and of course the cosplay competition where skits are performed…
I’m still amazed but what a fun time I had and can’t wait to go back again next year, with Kevin and Christy. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll do some kind of costume of my own….
