Amy’s new ‘do

bob

On the last day of our holiday Amy decided she wanted to get her hair cut short into a bob. Knowing how hard her VERY thick, long hair has been to manage during the Summer I thought it would be a good idea. Plus I know from 2 years ago when she had her hair short just how much it suits her.

Christy goes to the doctors

The school holidays at going by fast. The girls have had friends or we’ve been out nearly every day. Yesterday I was all set for a day at home – starting with cleaning the house – when got invited to go and see Alvin and the Chipmarks with her girlfriend. Since she would be gone I decided to take the opportunity to take Christy to a play center (after visiting Howards Storage to stock on yet more containers for my current organising challenge – the scrapbook room). She had a great time, and Amy enjoyed the movie. Today they went to a Dinosaur and Fossil workshop at the Science Center (I went shopping) then a friend came for a sleep over. In the meantime Christy was swimming with yet another friend and happened to jump in too close the edge and cut the inside of her mouth. It looked pretty bad and both Kevin & I thought she’d need stitches. I took her the local medical center and a nurse looked at and said no doctor would bother to stitch it – she was happy and so was I at avoiding a 2 hour wait to see a doctor.

Camping

Camping in the loungeroom

Last night the girls went camping… in our loungeroom. Kevin has bought a tent to use when we do our Ayres Rock trip (he’s riding his motorbike, the girls and I are going with Mum & Dad) and he wanted to try it out. Orginally they were all going to sleep outside (I was seeking the comfort of my own bed) but it was too windy. Christy was so excited that alternate plans had to be made. So the loungeroom it was. They thought it was fantastic.

Viewing the Christmas Lights

Last night we went for a stroll around the neighbourhood to check out the Christmas lights. It was  nice night for walking – not too hot, a nice breeze and a full moon.  My Mum and Dad (who live next door) also joined us so it was a real family outing. The girls loved seeing the lights and some kids were even handing out lollies at one house. Christy is clutching the “merit awards” that she made to give to us for good behaviour. I’ve got 3 so far 🙂

This last photo is of the full moon over the lake. Not the greatest photo but you get the idea – it looked so magical in real life.
