The big question is how long will it stay this way…..

Spring Clean Christy’s Bedroom

IMG_5438.JPG

With the school holidays drawing to a close it was time to get stuck into the girls rooms. Can’t remember the last time they had a top to toe clean and sort but it’s been a while. First up was Christy’s room. She was a real trooper, though a little unfocused at times, as it took most of the day to get it done.

We started by removing all the lego. She doesn’t play with it any more so it was time for it to go.

We then worked our way methodically around the room…including under the bed…

One thing that I found really helped, especially at the end of the day, was to handle everything just ONCE. So once it was picked up, you couldn’t put it down until it went to the right place. Christy thought this a fun game, and I think it helped me, tired as I was,  as well.

I had to wait for her bedding to dry and her bed made up before I could take most of the after photos, so you’ll have to excuse the poor lighting.

We also went through her wardrobe, now a lot more spread out because her school clothes moved to the drawer where the lego used to be.

IMG_5432.jpg IMG_5433.jpg

I also cleaned everything thoroughly, including skirting boards and the mirror wardrobe doors (though I did forget the ceiling fan). Christy is so happy with her room and we had a few finds – like $30, the i-pod and DS (though she claims to know where that was). I set her up a little charging station, but she never has ANYTHING charged when she wants to take it in the car.

We’ve got a fun, and more restful, day planned for tomorrow to visit the Powells, and their new puppy. Then Amy & I get to tackle her bedroom. Now that should be fun!!! (said sarcastically).

Christy’s Smurf Party

IMG_5130.jpg

Christy has been mad about the Smurfs for about a year now – after Kevin got her all the old episodes to watch. So it was with great excitement that we realized the Smurf Movie came out just after her birthday. Perfect for a Smurf lover. Unfortunately her two friends from school let her down by not coming and Kevin was on his way to San Francisco, but she celebrated with her best friends, who were kind enough to come dressed in blue and white.

First up was the opening of presents.. including this Smurf mug from her Nan & Pop….

IMG_5122.JPG

then games (which were organised by Amy) like pass-the-parcel…

IMG_5125.JPG

and pin the hat on the Smurf…

IMG_5127.JPG

Then it was time for an early lunch… complete with Smurf tableware….

IMG_5116.jpg IMG_5119.JPG

enjoyed by the pool….

IMG_5129.JPG

After the movie, which everyone really enjoyed, we came back home for her Smurf cake…which of course you can see was made by me 🙂

IMG_5141.jpg

Then a swim and a few more games like the chocolate game, which is always a kid favourite.

IMG_5145.JPG

Despite her initial disappointment over her school friends not coming she had a truely “Smurfalicious” party.

Christy’s Birthday

I can’t believe that my baby is now 10 years old. Boy, how time flies by.

When she woke this morning it was time for presents in bed….

IMG_4937.JPG

Her main present from us was a whole lot of Megablock Smurf sets. She was so excited as she didn’t even know they existed.

Breakfast was French toast.

IMG_4947.JPG

Then it was time to play with the Smurfs.

Then we headed to Forest Grove for lunch.

We were seated outside which was nice, but it was a bit on the cool side.

These are the “baby” swans we saw last time we were here.

We had high tea, and it was lovely, but the service was pretty bad. We arrived at 12pm and didn’t get our food until 1.15pm!

Afterwards we came back to our place as Christy wanted to show Granny her presents. We also did her cake. I cheated and bought this one (as I have to make cupcakes for school tomorrow and her party cake next Saturday). Kevin picked these fancy candles – you light one and they jump from one to other lighting them all.

The girls and Kevin spent the afternoon playing World of Warcraft. Then we had Dominos pizza for dinner. Christy’s request, though she only eats the Cheesy Garlic Bread. While we ate we played her new Harry Potter lego game.
