A Happy Day

Yesterday we had the pleasure of going to wedding of our friends Rodney and Angela. Rodney has worked for Kevin for over 10 years (and at one time they worked out of a small room in our old home). Angela also worked for Kevin, which is how they met. I was very moved when Angela started her speech with a special thankyou to Kevin. This wonderful couple also join us every Halloween and Christmas Eve – and both events wouldn’t be the same without them. Kevin was the photographer on the day and he has literally thousands of photos but I took a few so I wouldn’t have to wade through all of his.

The wedding ceremony was lovely. Very intimate and personal. Angela looked like a princess in her dress – I honestly almost didn’t recognise her as she walked down the isle. She was just radiant. Rodney scrubbed up pretty well complete with a top hat.

The bridal party

The reception was perfect.

Angela had even made up wonderful little activity books for all the kids to do. So very thoughtful.

And Amy just loved her pink lemonade.

The wedding/reception was held at The Loft – part of Jamberoo Water Park so we had a beautiful view and Kevin got some great fun photos inside the water park. It kept all the kids talking about coming the park in the summer. Kevin actually had the bridal party standing the water and they all said it was freezing.

And just check out the cake. Yes, that the bride and groom (complete with goatee and long pony tail) with their veggie patch – how cute and personal is that. Makes me want to get married all over again so I can a special cake. It was delicious too – chocolate – Yummo!!!

We were seated with our friends Karen & Len and their kids which made for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Just wanted to wish my Dad Happy Birthday. He’s still away on holidays so we didn’t get to celebrate with him this year. But it sounds like they celebrated just fine without us – having lunch out and ordering a new caravan. Anyway, it will be good to see Dad (and Mum) again on Thursday. Hope you had a great day Dad.

Celebrating the Olympics

Well, if you’ve been reading my posts over on Happy to be at Home you’ll already know this. But for the rest of you (okay, probably all of you) I wanted to share what we did last night. After reading Annie‘s post about her Chinese party and having Christy come home from school every day telling us what they’d learnt about China we decided have take-away Chinese for dinner. We sat at the dining table and used our Chinese bowls and chopsticks to try and make it a bit special. Kevin even bought fortune cookies – which we don’t normally have. The kids thought this was fun but didn’t like the cookies – I think Kevin ate most of them (with a bit of help from the dogs).

Celebrating the 2008 Olympics with chinese food Veggie Chow Mein

We had planned to stay up and watch the opening ceremony but Amy was asleep by 7.30pm (she’s not been real well this week) and at 9pm we realized it wasn’t going to start until 10.30pm so we all headed to bed – with the plan to get up at 6am and watched the repeat broadcoast. We did this, though it was one morning I could have stayed asleep and I had to wake up both the girls. Still it was well worth it. My favourites were all the drummers at the start, the “glowing” men forming the dove and of course the lighting of the couldren.

I was a bit down in the dumps for some reason this morning and have absolutely no energy so after getting back from drama I sat on the couch and watched the Olympics for the afternoon. Not to totally waste all those hours I sorted through my recipe folders and new recipes to try and also all the scrapbook ideas/inspiration I’d taken out of mags. The girls are playing Wii for a bit, then I’ll be taking back control of the TV (but this time I’ll be using my laptap or flicking through some magazines). It’s been a LONG time since I’ve had such a lazy day.

Girls Night In

Girls night in - watching a concert

After spending most of Saturday tidying and rearranging the scrapbook room, the girls and I settled down for a GIRLS NIGHT IN. We watched the Hannah Montana/Milley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Tour. We turned out the lights, turned up the music, lit some candles and got comfy on the couch in front of the heater. I even let Christy stay up 2 hours past her bedtime to watch it. Amy fell asleep before the end – she’s my late night party girls that for sure :-). Anyway, we all enjoyed it. Of course, being a girls night in we had to share some chocolate :-).
