School holidays so far

Well, since getting back from our Easter vacation I did get a start on the “spring’ clean of the house. I got both the girls bedrooms done. Since then I’ve a cold/flu whatever you call it and haven’t felt real great. It’s the worst I’ve felt in years so I can’t complain too much.  This week has seen a trip to the movies – to see Race to Witch Mountain (which we all enjoyed) and friends over to play with the girls, and me not doing very much at all.

Last Thurs the girls went to the science center (I went shopping but didn’t buy much). In the afternoon Hannah came over for a sleepover. Then next morning the girls had breakfast by the pool.

On Saturday we managed to get to dog training.

Sunday we took Emerson to the movies with us and she spent the afternoon.

Monday Taliegha came for a sleepover and the girls played hostages :-). Kids imaginations!!!!

Yesterday morning they were into music…. The bottle with the knob on top is supposed to be a microphone!!

Christy must have stayed up way too late with Taleigha because after being awake from 6.30am – 7.30am I found her like this…and she didn’t wake again until 11am.

Amy is currently at a sleepover at Emerson’s and later today we’re off to the meet the Powell’s at the bike track.

Easter Decorations and craft

Easter Decorations 2009

I planned to take you on a tour of our Easter decorations but I’ve run out of time. We don’t have a lot but each year I add a few things to the collection – this year it was the tea towel and the chicken and duck (seen in the middle row) – all bought on holidays in Surfers.

With only just being home from vacation we didn’t get to do much any Easter craft. But the girls got busy dying eggs on Tuesday afternoon. I had to go and buy eggs (as our chickens have stopped laying for some unknown reason). The dye didn’t take very well but they still had fun. And of course, they had to have an egg and spoon race.

Amy’s 10th Birthday Party

Cover shot pose

I think it’s safe to say that Amy had a fantastic time at her Popstar Party. Everyone met at our place and we drove them to the recording studio, where they sang and dance for 90mins. At the end they receieved a CD with 6 of the songs they had sung

We then headed back to our place for some party food, they then played for a bit. Then it was time to open presents, cut the ice-cream cake (another recipe from Our Red House – so yummy). Ice-cream cake

I think they had a great time. The Powell stayed for dinner so the fun continued until around 9pm. A full, but very fun day.

My baby is TEN!!!!

I can’t believe it. My first born turned 10 years old yesterday. It has gone by so quickly yet at the same time it seems like she has always been a part of our lives. I find it impossible to remember my day to day life before she was born. I guess I went to work, watched TV, read and slept and generally had lot of “ME” time :-).

We started her day by opening presents in our bed. She had been up since 4.30am (she got up just as I was heading back to bed after not being able to sleep since 3am). Her “main” present was a watch. It’s got a blue face and I just love it. Luckily she does too.

Since it was school day Amy opted for a quick breakfast of cold cereal (but one of the ones I never normally buy). She took cupcakes to school. I got the recipe from Our Red House – thanks Kate. They turned out great and were a big hit.

After school she has singing lessons so while she was there I organised a little afternoon tea party for her with Nan & Pop also joining us.

Of course there was a birthday day. A rich chocolate cake with cream. Yum – even if it was a bit lot overcooked.

If you’re wondering what Christy is wearing, the girls had a school disco tonight.

Amy certainly seemed to enjoy her special day and she still has her Popstar Party to look forward to on Satuday, and I have another cake to make.
