Weekend Fun

Yep, I’ve been a bad, bad blogger yet again. The last few weeks I’ve been crazy busy but I think (hope) that it’s all behind me now. And I should be able return to blog on a more regular, and more current, basis. Not only have I been a bad blogger but I’ve not even read another blog in WEEKS!!! Oh, dear – I just looked and I have over 2,000 unread blog posts!!!! I guess I know what I’ll be doing over the Summer holidays :-).

Anyway, on with last weekend. Which started with seeing Catching Fire in Gold Class with Amy & Kevin. We all loved it. Christy visited with the Powells and we had a little chat & tea with them when we picked her up.

Saturday morning I took the pups on a big 40 min walk because they would be on their own all day.

IMG_7604.JPG

Then we headed up to Sydney to visit with my Mum. We stopped along the way so I could buy this Christmas bear for her. How cute is he? Think I might need to go buy one for me as well :-).

IMG_7410.jpg

We had a really nice visit with Nan (Mum) who is doing SOO much better than last weekend.

IMG_7626.JPG

Amy gave her a lesson in selfies.

IMG_7414.JPG

And check out the view from her new room. Even on this yucky morning you can see see Centerpoint and the Harbour Bridge.

IMG_7624.JPG

After our visit we headed over to Darling Harbour and had lunch at Grill’d.

IMG_7632.JPG

Loved this place. I had the Garden Goodness and it was so yummy. Unfortunately I didn’t save the photo I took of it :-(.

IMG_7634.JPG

Then it was time to visit the Maritime Museum.

IMG_7638.JPG

We had given Kevin a family ticket to see the Viking Exhibition. When we got there we found it also included entrance to the boats. And since both girls were tall enough, we decided to do that first :-).

IMG_7687.JPG

First up was the HMAS Onslow.

IMG_7660.JPG

I was rather nervous to go on the submarine but it wasn’t as bad as I had feared.

IMG_7647.jpg

IMG_7650.jpg

IMG_7656.jpg

IMG_7657.JPG

Not sure I’d want to be on it under the sea or if it was crowded, but I enjoyed my visit.

IMG_7671.JPG

Next was the HMAS Vampire.

IMG_7685.JPG

IMG_7695.JPG

IMG_7675.jpg

Inside it was like stepping back to the 60s.

IMG_7664.JPG

We tried to take a family selfie. This was Kevin’s attempt…

IMG_7413.JPG

and this was mine…

IMG_7412.JPG

Christy had fun sitting in the gun firing seat.

IMG_7679.JPG

IMG_7681.jpg

The weather had cleared up from this morning and it was the perfect day to be by the water.

IMG_7676.JPG

We checked out the viking boat replica. It holds 70 people!!!

IMG_7689.JPG

IMG_7693.jpg

IMG_7694.jpg

Then finally we got to the Viking exhibit.

IMG_7699.JPG

All the artifacts were found in Sweden, which we thought was cool since we’ve been there.

IMG_7729.JPG

While we enjoyed the exhibit, it really wasn’t as good as we had hoped/expected it to be. Like always, a guided tour would have been beneficial.

There was a quick stop before leaving at the British lolly shop. Even though I’m not eating sugar at the moment, my family were desperate to pick out some goodies.

IMG_7742.JPG

I wasn’t interested at all until I spotted a fav. I had discovered in Germany (that is obviously sold in the UK as well) -milky way crispy rolls. But funnily enough I still haven’t eaten it yet:-).

IMG_7739.JPG

After a very busy day on Saturday, we all just wanted a day at home on Sunday. I spent the day putting up the Christmas tree (with Christy’s help) and decorating the home.

I’ll share some more photos in a future blog post. And if you want to see more of our weekend be sure to check out my day in the life vlogs.

Catching up….

IMG_7355.jpg

As usual the week was full of lots of lovely walks to the lake. One day I went at 5.30am so was able to enjoy a stunning sunrise.

IMG_7383.JPGIMG_7377.jpg

We also had a lot of rain this week, which was great for the veggie garden.

IMG_7345.jpg

Christy was still home sick. But we finally got an answer what is wrong with her and she has now started on anti-biotics.

IMG_7339.jpg

There was a dentist visit for all of us. Amy came out the best, with Christy coming in second. She does have a hole in one tooth, but it’s a baby tooth that will fall out soon.

IMG_7365.jpg

There was a trip out along my favourite road to drive along.

IMG_7575.JPG

IMG_7573.JPG

Where I pulled over I even managed to find a thistle. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one here in Australia!

IMG_7572.JPG

The destination on this drive was to pick up more uniforms for the kindy fittings we did this week.

IMG_7578.JPG

On Friday it was back to the doctors for Christy as a follow up to see how she’s doing to repeat some tests.

IMG_7398.jpg

Finally by the end of the week I found signs she was starting to feel better.

IMG_7341.jpg

The pups scored big time when I found some out of date meat when I was cleaning out Mum’s fridge for her.

IMG_7562.JPG

And Bailey disgraced himself when he (with Rosie’s help) ate a whole packed of biscuits.

IMG_7402.jpg

IMG_7404.jpg

And when e got home on Satuday (blog post to come) they had dug up part of my veggie garden – luckily it was the one part with hardly any plants (I think I only lost 1 or 2).

The week that was

Okay, it’s been a crazy busy week, with another one coming up, so I thought I’d do a “week that was” post. Hope you don’t mind.

It was the week of lots of lovely early morning walks, except for the two days that it rained…

IMG_7204.JPG IMG_7297.jpg

IMG_7270.JPG

It was the week I finally found some time to sit out by the pool and soak up some rays….

IMG_7486.jpg

and enjoy my daily salad….

IMG_7290.jpg

It was the week I had Christy home sick again, and not one, but two visits to the doctors…

IMG_7280.JPG

Thankfully we finally have a doctor (our usual doc is overseas) who said “something is wrong. We need to find out what it is” and ordered some different tests.

IMG_7251.jpg

It was the week I bought this cute flamingo top (after an online friend told me about it)….

IMG_7310.jpg

And it was the week I saw this crazy fact….just 40 days till Christmas!!!….

IMG_7293.jpg

It was the week I did some multi-tasking – youtube and my momento album…

IMG_7231.jpg

and it was the week Amy & I went up to Sydney to visit with my Mum, who is back in hospital and not doing well.

IMG_7513.jpg

It was the week of a side trip over to Bondi to get some cute Christmas stockings….

IMG_7517.JPG

We also got to visit Typo…

IMG_7523.JPG

and I found the canvas I had been looking for, but was no longer available at my local typo. Love it!!

IMG_7333.jpg

It was the week I noticed all the shopping centers were all decorated for Christmas…

IMG_7529.JPG

and it was the week Rosie enjoyed her first cup of tea. It had gone cold so Kevin gave some to Rosie – she loved it!!!!

IMG_7537.jpg

Would you like some more puppy photos?

IMG_7228.jpg

IMG_7463.JPG

This is Bailey’s “please take me in the car” face…

Lunch at the temple

IMG_7369.JPG

On Saturday Kevin, Amy & I went to the Nan Tien Temple. It’s just 10mins away from home but it’s been some time since we last visited. Christy still wasn’t feeling well so wanted to stay home.

IMG_7370.JPG

It was  REALLY hot day out but it was good to be out enjoying the lovely day.

IMG_7372.jpg

IMG_7374.JPG

First stop was the Dew Drop Inn for some lunch. Even though they had added some new items to the menu, I just ordered the mince & rice like I always do.

IMG_7376.JPG

With a chai latte, of course. So good!!!

IMG_7381.JPG

After lunch we took a stroll around the lotus pond, which is not yet in flower….

IMG_7384.JPG

IMG_7386.JPG

IMG_7388.jpg

and then up to the temple, where I took too many photos as normal.
