First visit to Costco

IMG_4859.JPG

At the end of June I finally had a few good days and was able to organise a day with Leanne for my first visit to Costco. I was rather nervous, thinking that it might be busy and I therefore wouldn’t enjoy it.

IMG_4861.JPG

I couldn’t have been more wrong though as it was nice and quiet. We arrived right at 12pm on a Friday.. not sure if that made the difference or not.

IMG_4866.JPG

I also didn’t expect to buy very much, and while there was a LOT of junk food, there was actually a surprising amount of good food as well. So, I ended up with a carboot full and a bill for $600 :-).

IMG_4881.JPG

I was vlogging while there so didn’t get a lot of photos but if you want to hear about/see more of our visit please watch the video below.

I also filmed a haul to share what I bought. I had such a good day and can’t wait to go back again one day soon.

June Highlights

IMG_9511.jpg

In mid June I finally had an iron infusion as my iron stores had continued to deplete even with a double dosage of supplements. The procedure was very straightforward and pain free. They even fed me cookies, tea and a sandwich, since I was there over lunch.

IMG_9522.jpg

The following week after the infusion I suffered with bad headaches and not feeling 100% – pretty much how I’ve been feeling for the last 5 months.

I got to enjoy some of the lovely area that I live when I had an appointment at Austinmer (about 30mins drive from my home). While I wasn’t feeling up to a big walk, I was able to have a little explore and take some photos.

I got back into reading more this month after my friend Gretchen got me onto , starting with this one that Athena had been wanting me to read. Kevin and her went to see it at the movies but I wasn’t allowed as I hadn’t read the book yet (and I wasn’t feeling the best :-)).

I’ve been lucky enough to catch some lovely sunrises ….

There was parent-teachers interviews for the end of term…both girls getting good reports… It’s hard to believe they have finished the first half of the year at Montessori.

IMG_9565.jpg

and there were drama performances for both the girls… Christy’s class doing an adaptation of MacBeth.

Bastille & Supanova

We had quite a big weekend, starting with the Bastille concert that I took Athena and some friends to.

IMG_4490.JPG

I was REALLY happy to attend as I really love the band.

IMG_4493.JPG

But being a Mum I opted to sit in the stands, rather than go into the mosh pit like the girls did :-).

You can see more of my day and the concert in my day in the life vlog.

Then on Sunday it was back up to Sydney again for the Supanova Pop Culture Expo.

IMG_4601.JPG

We had to take 2 cars this year as there were the four of us and 2 friends going, 3 friends returning home.

IMG_4546.JPG

Unfortunately there was quite the line to get in but it went pretty fast once the doors opened.

IMG_4549.JPG

Since Athena went off with her friends, this year was all about My Little Pony (for Christy).

IMG_4551.JPG

We went round to check out some of the stores…

IMG_4557.jpg

watched a man get transformed into a zombie…

thanks to some makeup…

IMG_4562.JPG

Listened to a Q&A session with John Barrowman. A highlight of the day for sure. He was so funny, and even bought his husband onstage for a bit.

IMG_4571.JPG

and one of his Arrow co-stars.

IMG_9524.jpg

A highlight for Christy was getting some My Little Pony posters signed by one of the directors.

IMG_4579.JPG

And of course, getting some photos with the likes of Merida from Brave..

IMG_4554.jpg

Elsa and Anna from Frozen…

IMG_4598.jpg

and Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony ….

IMG_4590.jpg

Me…I opted for the Tardis…

IMG_4592.jpg

We ended the day watching the cosplay competition. Christy had managed to get us front row seats as she went to help some of the staff remove tape off the floor while we waited.

Such a good day. Next year we hope to attend both days (we would have this year if it wasn’t for the concert).

Once again you can see more of the day in my video.

My Birthday

IMG_9420.jpg

After such a great birthday weekend away the actual day was pretty low key, especially with the family leaving for school/work at 7.30am. Luckily I was feeling up to a walk with my furbabies.

IMG_4189.JPGIMG_9404.jpg

We went to a different area of the lake.

IMG_4197.JPG

I love it here with the horses…

IMG_4179.JPG

The winding paths…

IMG_9408.jpg

IMG_9409.jpg

and glimpses of the lake through the trees…

IMG_9410.jpg

Back home I got dressed for the day,

and headed off to meet with my friends Jody and Mel.

Birthday lunch with friends

We all bought our own lunch so I stopped at my favourite bakery to get a vegetable pie (best ones I’ve ever had).

IMG_4214.JPG

Later that night we had Nan & Pop join us for takeaway Thai, followed by some birthday cake and fruit kebabs (made by Athena).

IMG_4225.JPG

I got some money from my parents (for a future weekend away), a mug from Christy and a lovely gift from an online friend, Debbie in New Zealand. Can you tell she knows me well 🙂 ?
