A trip to the theatre

On Saturday we headed up to Sydney to see Legally Blond the Musical.

We arrived at the Star Casino around 12pm. Nice and early – so we didn’t end up rushed like our last time here.

A quick stop for some blurry photos …. courtesy of Amy….

After looking at our lunch options we decided on lebanese.

IMG_4221.JPG

We got 2 veggie plates to share and some lebanese bread (which was amazing).

We had a wonder around then headed to the theater to see Legally Blond.

We all really enjoyed it. Such a bright and bubbly show. If you liked the movie, you will love the musical.

Of course, Christy had to buy her own Bruiser in a bag :-).

Then on the way home we were treated to a lovely sunset.

Family Fun Day

I had great plans for a full day out for our family fun day – possibly the markets, or a museum. Unfortunately both the girls weren’t feeling well (having been struggling with the flu for a few days now) so we just decided to head out for some lunch. Our chosen destination is just 1/2 hour from home.

IMG_2898.JPG

In particular a vegetarian cafe we’ve been meaning to visit forever. This is the first I’ve ever been to, besides the Nan Tien Temple.

Inside was lovely. A nice welcoming fire…

IMG_2882.jpg

and a cute lamp on our table.

IMG_2883.JPG

One of the best things is that Amy and I could chose from anything on the entire menu :-).

IMG_2884.jpg

But of course the best thing was getting to hang out with my family :-).

IMG_2889.JPG IMG_2890.JPG

Kevin wanted to share the sampler plate. Holy moly. Check out the size of it! We ate all the nachos (who knew sweet chili sauce would be so good on nachos), and about half the dips and pita chips. I bought home the rest. The salad went to the chooks and I enjoyed the rest of the pita chips for my afternoon snack.

Gerringong is one gorgeous seaside town. This is the view from the very small main street.

IMG_2892.JPG

If the girls had been feeling better we might have gone forĀ  a walk around but instead we just drove down to the beach where I snapped a few photos. My Dad always camped here as a childĀ  and I’ve got a very special photo of my Grandpa and me taken here (he died when I was just 3 years old) so it’s a special place.

Towards to ocean….

IMG_2893.JPG

Towards the mountains…Rain threatened all day long but never eventuated.

IMG_2894.JPG

I think we’ll definitely have to come back in the Summer. Have lunch at the cafe, a swim at the beach and end the day with an ice-cream :-).

Mothers Day 2012

No sleep in for this Mum. Once I’m awake that’s pretty much it and I’m currently on 5.30am wake-ups. Doesn’t worry me though as I use that pre-sunrise time to watch youtube videos or catch up on blogs and have cuddles with my furbabies.

Later the girls prepared a lovely breakfast of French Toast, and a beautifully set table….

IMG_2835.JPG

Then there were lots of lovely pressies… some of which I had picked out myself… some made or selected by the girls….

Just before 11am we headed to Bulli hospital to visit my Granny who has been moved to rehab. Good news indeed.

IMG_1941.jpg

After we drove up to Robertson to Fountaindale Manor House. Mum & Dad took their own car.

IMG_2839.jpg IMG_2838.JPGIMG_2852.JPG

We were last here in 2005 for a Wedding….

It’s a gorgeous old house and we were appreciative of the blazing fire when we arrived as it was rather cold outside.

IMG_2842.jpg

We were a bit early for our high-tea so after a quick photo by the fire we were escorted to a lounge area to wait. Unfortunately this was away from the warm fire.

IMG_2841.JPG

At 1.30pm we were finally seated (in another cold room). Unfortunately the service was pretty shocking (this is the first year they opened up both dining rooms). Food was scarce to start with (with everyone now starving since it was past 2pm). However, the food was delicious.

IMG_2847.JPG IMG_2848.JPG IMG_2850.JPG IMG_2851.JPG

It was a shame the poor service put a bit of a dampener on what should have been a wonderful experience. Will we come back? Not too sure.

IMG_2853.JPG

We had a quick stop at the Cheese factory and the famous Robertson Pie Shop before heading back down the mountain.

IMG_2854.JPG

Christy had gotten car sick on the way up due to the very windy road so I let her sit in the front for the trip back home.

Overall it was a lovely Mothers Day. Great to be with my family and have another wonderful family day out. Hope you all had a good one.

Easter Holidays – Lunch and science

After our late night at the show we took it easy this morning and then met the Powells (with Christy) at the Nan Tien Temple.

IMG_2482.jpg IMG_2485.jpg

We explore, watched the fish, took some photos…

IMG_2496.JPG IMG_2497.JPG

then had lunch at the cafe.

IMG_2498.JPG

I had my usual “mince” with rice.

IMG_2499.JPG

IMG_2501.jpg

After lunch we made our way to the Wollongong Science Center.

IMG_2503.JPG IMG_2506.jpg IMG_2508.jpg IMG_2516.JPG IMG_2519.JPG

After the kids (big and little) played and we watched a science show, we had a cup of tea outside….

IMG_2524.JPG

then watched another show in the observatory. It’s been ages since I’ve seen anything in here and it was really good. Shame I was so tired though as I ended up dozing off for a bit :-).

IMG_2525.JPG

We headed home at 4pm. Later the guys cooked a BBQ dinner and later again Amy made up a yummy dessert.
