Easter fun

Had a nice, but loud, Easter. NOel, Leanne & their 3 girls stayed at our place. We went for bike rides (Christy has come off her training wheels), lazed about, had lunch at Nan Tien Temple and went to the science center. The rest of the time we hung out at home talking and playing Name That Tune (all 80s music) while the kids played and swam.

Yesterday I spent cleaning downstairs, then had puppy training with Rosie in the evening. This was the last week and she received a certificate for completing Grade 1. Christy came along with me and proclaimed that Rosie got her first merit award. At one stage Kay asked Christy if she could pretend to be a dog – meaning for her to stand in place of the missing dog. But immediately Christy dropped to all four and raced around the car park on her knees while barking loudly. It was pretty funny.

Today I went to the gym (first time in over a week) and then we celebrated Granny’s 85th Birthday with a suprise party at Nanny’s. Amy helped do a lot of the preparation. It was also nice to catch with Tom & Wendy who I haven’t seen for a long time.

Spent the afternoon working on the Ridemax program which helps sorting out ride order for Disneyland. Such a great program and will really help minimize waiting time in lines. Tonight I went out with the old playgroup Mum’s. Was nice to catch up with them all and Sue was looking especially gorgeous (if that a good enough mention Sue? :-)). I really don’t want to lose contact with these women that I saw almost weekly for 6 years. It still amazes the wonderful friendships that I formed at playgroup.

Let the school holidays begin

Well, the school holidays officially begin today, which also means the end of my “old life” as after the holidays Christy starts school and I have no more little ones at home during the day. I must admt I’m looking forward to it – partly becuase I’m looking forward to more free time for me (I plan to start writing again) and a bit of quiet and partly cause I know Christy is NEEDING to be at school (her behaviour hasn’t been the best the last couple of months but I think she’s just bored and wanting to learn).
I’ve done all my Christmas shopping (most was done by mid-Nov) and everything is wrapped. I’ve just a few things to do around the house (including Belle and the guinea pigs their Christmas baths) and lots of baking to do. After Christmas I have absolutely NO PLANS for a whole week – now I’m sure we’ll do plenty but it’s so nice to have the option to do nothing or just hang out in the pool is the weather every returns to “summer”. Not that I’m complaining too much as I do prefer cooler weather but it would be nice to be swimming over the holidays.
Poor Kevin has had a really bad week with machines at work blowing up. It’s going to cost him heaps to replace it all and the insurance company won’t cover it so he’s plenty stressed at the moment. He’d planned to have today off but in light of this weeks events couldn’t afford to take the day off. I imagine he’ll now be working all next week as well, and is thinking he might not be able to come of the houseboat either – hopefully that won’t eventuate as I know the girls would be very dissapointed.
Amy came home from school sick at 1.30pm yesterday and has been laying around ever since. Poor thing. I hope she improves soon and doesn’t give whatever it is to the rest of us.

Laptop lunches

Well, I’m quite excited as the laptop lunchbox I ordered for Amy came today. One of the blogs I visit http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/ uses this lunchbox. The author has a book out that I saw I could order through an Australian website – imagine my excitment when I saw I could also order the laptop lunchbox as well. I’ve now got three lunch books to go through – Amy shouldn’t complain of being bored with lunch for awhile. I’ve just been sitting trying to do a menu plan based on my use it up list -much harder than I thought. There are a few things I have no idea what to do with

Better at last

Well, thankfully Christy is finally a lot better. Amy went to school yesterday and Christy was actually interested in playing with her toys and eating a little more food. I cleaned the kitchen – boy does it look good – and did a few other jobs. Before lunch Christy and I played Guess Who and Uno and we did a bit of scrapbooking before walking up to the school to pick up Amy. It was drizzling but we missed the heavy rain so that was good.
The girls had a party to go up in Sydney in the afternoon/evening and since they were both feeling better we went. Again, we seemed to only get a bit of really heavy rain. Amy had a great time and Christy did okay for 1.5hrs then wanted to go home. After not doing anything all week, it will probably take her awhile to get her energy levels back up. We got McDonalds to have for tea on the way home, but Christy fell asleep before eating many of her fries. Amy also fell asleep. We got home about 8.30pm, put the girls to bed, then I went to bed to finish a book.
When I was awake last night I was thinking about how much better I’m feeling
about everything. So much so that I’m even looking forward to hosting
Christy’s birthday party at home next month (when back in March
I couldn’t
cope with the thought of having one at home for Amy). When we moved when
planned on doing lots of entertaining and while we’ve been having more
friends over for lunch we haven’t as yet had a party. I proposed we have a
Halloween party (it will also mark the one year mark we moved in). He said
yes, so the kids and I are all pretty excited about that. And we’ll be able
to use the full size plastic skeleton that
dh came home with the other day.
It’s now Saturday morning and wet and cold outside. Christy is still sleeping and I’m headed to the gym. I’m not feeling all that great so might just do upper body weights and come home. If I feel okay I’ll do some cardio as well. Can’t believe I haven’t been for 7 whole day. I know I will be sore tomorrow.
