Busy Days

Well, it’s been a busy start to the week after a rather lazy weekend. Monday I did cardio at the gym, cleaned downstairs, bought some food for the chooks and guinea pigs. Did manage to find a bit of time to scrapbook a few pages, then after school Amy had to see a speech lady (she makes a “s” sound like a “th”) and then her doctor to get the results of last weeks blood test. Test came back fine so we’re waiting another 2 weeks and if she not better (doc thinks it’s some kind of post operative trauma) then we’ll go to a pediatrition. Time in home to make dinner for a hungry husband and watch some telly (currently watching Monk).

Today I dropped the girls at school (doc has said Amy should keep going), then did the groceries, went to the gym (legs today but only set of squats), come home to unload the groceries, then back out again for my bone scan. Since I was in town I picked up some rice paper rolls (so yummy).

Came home to eat lunch and check e-mail, then back into town to have photos taken of my bones. Back to pick girls up from school, home again for 1.5 hours, make dinner and am about to take the girls (or at least Christy) to swimming lessons. Boy, I’m tired just typing this all up. And I’ve had a killer headache most of the day (actually I’ve had one most days the last week).

Not again

Yes, Amy is sick again. I actually had them both at the doctors on Wed night – what fun – we waited nearly 2 hours. Anyway, Amy has some virus that’s going around that makes you feel dizzy – nothing to give her besides Panadol. Christy has a middle ear infection. So we’ve had to cancel our plans for the last 2 days. Yesterday I cleaned in the morning and did a bit of scrapbooking and worked on a new jigsaw in the afternoon. Today I’ve spent nearly all day on the computer working on my new look blog. I did do some washing but the machine broke so had to take it next door to Mum’s. Have a rather sore back now so I’m going to sit and read for a bit till Kevin goes to pick up takeaway Indian for dinner.

Kids!!!

Finally after years of Amy wanting to drama and singing classes I finally made some phone calls. I had put it off thinking I would have to go into Wollongong and it was all just too hard. So I ring up and guess what? There are classes at the girls school on a Sat morning. They went yesterday for the first time and loved it – esp. Amy.

Afterwards they had cheerleading. Amy started off well and half way through the class her mood changed and she looked miserable. As we left she announced she didn’t want to do cheerleading anymore. WHAT???? It’s her decision I guess but I’m really disspointed. Of course, CHristy doesn’t want to do it either (not really a problem since she mucks around anyway). But I was really suprised at Amy. She’s been doing it for 2 years now. She says she doesn’t like doing it the same thing over and over and last year (different teacher) it was better. The only thing I can see different to last year is that the teachers don’t let them muck around as much. I’m still shocked and sad. I was really looking forward to watching them perform at State in August. I’m hoping she’ll change her mind but I know it’s just I would have loved to do something like this when I was young. Not sure whether to make her attend class till the end of term (only 2 more weeks) or just admit defeat.

Back home again

Well, I have to admit it’s kind of nice to be home again – it’s certainly nice to see our animals and have space to move. The cruise was great – absolutely loved Mexico and it’s people. Enjoyed Seaworld and Legoland and then Disney. This is where my well-laid plans fell apart. On our second day Amy was vomitting. I took Christy to the parks for the morning and then we decided to get the doctor to do a hotel visit. $300 later he told us he suspected Appendicitis and to take her emergency. Lucky she went to a great childrens hospital – CHOC – and yes, indeed she had her appendix removed. So she wouldn’t miss out on Disneyland (plus unknown risk about blood clots) the girls and I stayed on an additional 5 days. While we did have a good time it wasn’t what I’d expected and we only got the spend a couple days as a family at the parks (with Amy in a wheelchair).

Mother’s Day was a bit unusual. We flew into Sydney that morning and I had to drag a kicking and screaming Christy from just off the plan, all the way through a very busy immigration – what fun!!! She just lost it and refused to walk so I had no choice but to drag her. It was not pretty. And I have never seen the airport so busy and chaotic.
