Ricky Martin Concert

With a big night ahead it was MOST unfortunate that I woke up at 3am!!!! With sinus pain and a tickly throat there was no way I was going back to sleep, so after 30mins I got up and went downstairs. I did manage to get another hour on the couch around 5am. Since I wasn’t feeling the best Christy was kind enough to make me some French Toast for breakfast. Haven’t had any more ages – and it was so good.

I spent the rest of the morning doing a few jobs, mainly vegging on the couch. But I did enjoy my lunch outside.

IMG_6927.JPG

And I took an afternoon nap – something I NEVER do but felt was very necessary today. I manged to get about another 45mins.

Then finally it was time to get all dressed up and head to Sydney. My Mum was supposed to be my date (the ticket was actually a Christmas present from her) but she wasn’t up to attending. And Amy was more than happy to take her place.

Still a lot of smoke around.

Even with some traffic getting to Olympic Park we arrived nice and early and had plenty of time to get some dinner.

I was so happy with our seats. With my bad vision I really appreciate being close enough to see facial features :-).

The support act was Timomatic, who I really enjoyed.

Then it was time for Ricky. I’ve been a huge fan for about 15 years and it was great to see him in concert again. The last time was about 12 years ago and I was on crutches with a broken ankle. Obviously I didn’t get to dance the night away that time :-).

Such a great show. He has so much energy and genuinely seemed to be having a good time up there. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a performer so happy. Hope I don’t have to wait another 12 years to see him again!!!

Day trip to Sydney

Today started with a stunning sunrise. Shame I wasn’t feeling well enough for a walk, nor did I really have time.

IMG_6837.JPG

Amy & I left home just after 7am as it was we were headed up to Sydney to see her neuro-opthamologist for a review. They always have a lovely flower display, and today was no exception.

IMG_6775.JPG

We had the good news that the bleeding at the back of her eye has stopped and the growth seems to be shrinking.

The following photo is sidewise but you can the progress/improvement of her eye.

After being there for 2 hours we headed home, stopping at Miranda for lunch at Salsa’s….

Here’s my little haul from Kikki K.

We also checked out the Christmas stuff in David Jones.

On the way home we encountered lots of smoke from the bushfires, which are now all over NSW.

IMG_6884.JPG

This was just around the corner from our house but the fire was up over the mountain.

Later in the afternoon Christy had her first (return) swimming lesson. The teacher was surprised at how much she had remembered.

IMG_6796.jpg

With all the smoke I was surprised we managed to get a spectacular sunset.

Tonight instead of ice cream I tried this frozen yoghurt. It was really good and will be great to have as a replacement.

Best ever vegetable pie

Today started with another early morning as I had to take Amy for a trial day at the Montessori High School as she also keen to attend next year. After dropping her off I took the pups to the vets. They are all healthy but have gained a few kilos since their last visit.

IMG_6763.jpg

After the vets I had to visit the Corrimal Bakery, which was just a 5min drive…

IMG_6767.jpgA

Because they sell THE BEST vegetable pies ever. I love that it’s full of mashed potato, and with only a pastry bottom they probably aren’t “too” bad for you. So it was an easy dinner for me tonight.

IMG_6768.jpg

We’ve been playing card games after dinner and tonight it was “spoons” – my first time playing this, can’t say I liked it that much but it was okay.

IMG_6769.jpg

Now that we’ve finished Breaking Bad, we are watching Vikings. I painted my nails while we watched.

IMG_6799.jpg

Other highlights today include my new wifi connection just for my youtube. Don’t I have the best hubby? All our connections are called piggy so guess what it’s called? 🙂

Christy came home with this cute drawing today.

And I’m happy to report that Amy thoroughly enjoyed her day at Montessori, and is excited to attend next year.

I made a new friend

Still under the weather and today started with an early (8am) doctors apt. But not for me, Amy needed a referral for her neuro-opthomologist, whom we are seeing on Thursday. Afterwards we had breakfast at the cafe under the medical center. I actually wasn’t going to have anything until I spotted this cauliflower, leek and cheese pie, which I thought sounded really interested. It was indeed rather yummy, but an odd choice for breakfast.

IMG_6719.jpg

The apt was made earlier so Amy could go to school afterwards but I seemed to have past on the cold/sore throat that I had last week so she was off sick. When we got home I found this note from Christy. “Charlie” is our budgie.

IMG_6753.jpg

So I headed back out the local pet supply store. I also took Rosie and got her a new halti and the new toys you saw on yesterdays post. AND, I made a new friend.

IMG_6725.jpg

This little goat was the friendliest, cutest thing. I fed him some grass and he was so gentle. I REALLY wanted to bring him home with me :-).

IMG_6726.jpg

This afternoon I tried the new Chai tea I bought last week because everytime I opened the tea cupboard it smelt AMAZING. Tasted amazing too. Definitely one of the best chai teas I’ve tried. I love that it’s grown in Australia as it means I don’t have to worry if it’s fair trade or not.

IMG_6754.JPG

For some reason Rosie decided to take a nap under my desk.

IMG_6749.jpg

Today we headed back to the swim center as Christy is keen to have swimming lessons again.  Seemed funny being back. We where there every week for over 12 years but it’s been a couple of years now.
