Holiday by the Sea – Part 2

The second part of our holiday saw much warmer weather which meant a few trips to the beach – which was all of a 2 min walk away.

And the girls made some friends….which meant I hardly saw them again….

There was some bubble blowing….

and plaster painting….

and lots of riding around on scooters….

There was another walk along the rocks, but when I fell (hard on my bum) I decided that with my arthritis my rocking climbing days might just be over.

Almost every night we had a stunning sunset.

And around the park there were still some gorgeous flowers to be seen.

It was an odd week. It was relaxing for me and I got a lot of reading done. But I struggled the first few days, then the girls got friends and I got a little lonely. Overall it was a good holiday and we came home just before the rain started back up again. Unfortunately though I’m now battling a cold and possibly the start of sinusitis (which I DO NOT want to have ever again). Luckily I seem to be winning the battle and am looking forward to enjoying the remainder of the school holidays.

I’m not even sure if I mentioned on my blog that we are currently on holiday in Nan & Pop’s van. Just 30mins from home – which everyone thinks is so funny. But it’s a gorgeous part of the world, and it was very handy when Kevin had to come to the rescue to fix my internet (and return the next morning to pick up his laptop bag that he left behind). This was my childhood holiday spot so always has wonderful memories.

It’s been a pretty quiet week, with a cold start but warming up nicely now. And nothing like our last holiday here – thank goodness. The girls have made some friends and I’ve done some reading. I’ve not been having the best holiday but things seem to be improving. I have threatened so many time about going home! And I’ve been reminising about other holidays in the van, when the girls were younger and needed me and other trips when we’ve travelled with Nan & Pop.  But a view like this out the window helps to make up for things.

We did manage to get out for a walk on the rocks.

Do you see us waving hello?

IMG_2575.JPG

Oh, I do love to be beside the seaside…. never fails to make me happy.

IMG_2577.JPG

And there have been some lovely sunsets….

The girls have been swimming and we’re hoping to do more over the next few days now that it’s warming up. Today Amy had to go to school for a dance practice and I took Christy horseriding (post to follow) and I feel much better about things. Looking forward to the last few days.

Weekend in the Sydney – Annie

We woke up to rain. Nice for a lazy Sunday morning but not motivating to get out and explore.

So we stayed in and played on our laptops before making breakfast in the most poorly equipment kitchen I have EVER come across (having only crockery, pots and a few large utensils does not make for easy cooking).

At 11am we checked out…

and drove over the Star City Casino. We were to meet Nan, Pop and my Granny but they were caught in traffic, so had a bit of wait for them to arrive.

We took some photos while waiting.

Eventually they arrived and with less than an hour for lunch we made a mad dash for the buffet. The food was great but everyone was a bit stressed with the fact we had to eat and run. There was hardly any talking, just eating.

We arrived at the theatre to the chimes ringing. I grabbed a quick photo as we moved promptly to find out seats.

We had barely 5mins till the lights dimmed and the show began.

It was a wonderful musical and we all thoroughly enjoyed. Christy, who is a big fan of the movie, was a bit confused that some parts were different but she just loved the show – esp. the kids and Sandy (Annie’s dog).

We should have stayed for a cuppa afterwards but we headed to the car and back to Wollongong. It was a fun weekend away and lovely hanging out all together.
