Day 14 – Movies and packing
Woke up to a very foggy morning.
I played on the computer and painted my nails (with one of my new polishes).
While we waited to see what the weather was going to do I did a bit more packing and we enjoyed some bagels for breakfast. Though still a bit cool we decided at 11am to head to Wet ‘n’ Wild. We’ve never been here before and all got rather excited when we saw all the big slides….until Kevin saw the closed today sign…. what on earth??? Christy was not impressed. We still might be able to come on our very last day as it’s right beside Universal.
So we headed back home to change out of our swimmers and have some of those delicious berries.
And headed back to Downtown Disney….
to go see a movie…..
Kevin wanted some Wetzel’s Pretzel and I spotted the shop next door selling peppermint iced chocs. I got one and the girls got ice-creams which we sat outside to enjoy. However I didn’t get very far into my drink (which was nice but I think too sweet) before I started feeling sick.
Time for our movie. We all loved this. So clever. Not your traditional Christmas movie (as it’s set at Easter) but it does feature Santa…. and a hot guy (if you ask Amy). Oh, and the popcorn was really yummy (free refills on the large size too).
After the movie we went back to Disneyquest.
While Christy went to design her own roller coaster again I had a tea and we shared this very cute (carrot) cupcake. Nice but rather rich as we didn’t finish it.
We then played some games – yep, even me :-).
And went on a few pretty groovy rides. It was certainly a very fun way to went our time at Disneyworld.
Just after 5pm we headed home (we had to drag the girls away).
We stopped for a last dinner at Taco Bell and Kevin presented me with this sauce.
We then returned home for the last time for the fun job of final packing and tidying of the apartments. Luckily we were all done by 7.30pm and able to have a bit of relax time before going to bed. I’m sad this part of the trip is all over but an equally excited for the next part.
Day 13 – A day of recovery
After a rather busy 12 days and only two days left in Orlando we decided on a day of rest and organisation (as I was starting to feel a little overwhelmed with what I wanted/needed to get done). Christy played with her toys while I started packing up our souveniers.
We spent some time working on our smashbook ablums.
When we got hungry for lunch I headed out around the lake….
to the poolside cafe to pick up some takeaway lunch.
My view while I waited for our lunch to be made.
Christy had nachos and I had a very yummy Floridian Salad.
In the meantime Kevin and Amy had headed off to The Holyland Experience. Yes, he’s an atheist but it’s somewhere he’s always wanted to visit. They both agreed it was a waste of time and worse than they expected. But at least they can say they have been.
When they arrived back, much earlier than expected, Kevin, Christy and I headed down to the lazy river for a float around.
Christy took this self portrait.
After the lazy river, we had a spa, then dried off in the sun before heading back upstairs.
Look, our room is all nice and tidy again.
We got dressed again and headed out to Super Target, another store I have been wanting to visit.
It certanly is super. Probably about 6 times the size of a target back home.
We had fun wandering the aisles and got very excited to find Pee Wee Pillow Pets, of course we all got one.
There is also a Starbucks so I was able to get a peppermint ice chocolate. Yum, but not as good as the one from Godiva.
And check out all these Christmas Cakes. They look great but I’d be too scared of the ingredients to eat one.
This fruit, however, I’d love to eat. And since we never get raspberries so cheap at home I bought a punnet, and we got some blackberries as well.
Here’s some of our loot.
Kevin made a quick stop at Best Buys then we went to dinner at TGI Fridays.
It was our first visit here and we really enjoyed it.
I had a very delicious blackbean burger with sweet potato fries….
and Kevin had some ribs (not too often you see meat on this blog :-)).
Back home Christy and I did a bit more of our smashbooks (trying to catch up) and then we watched Glee. But I mucked up the times so we missed the first half :-(. Can’t believe it’s our last day here tomorrow.
Day 12 – 20th Wedding Anniversary
Today marks 20 years that Kevin and I have been married. Crazy right? But honestly it just gets better every year.
We were up early today and off to the Polynesian Resort.
to have breakfast at Ohana’s.
The food was delicious. Everything is served family style by your “cousin”, starting with pineapple coconut bread – which was oh, so yummy. This was followed by a fruit plate. Then the main plate (minus sausages and bacon for us) and Mickey waffles. Everything was delicious but the eggs and potatoes (seasoned with salt, pepper and sugar!!!!!) were outstanding.
Ohana’s is a character breakfast with Stitch….
Lilo, Mickey and Pluto….
Following breakfast we headed to the Florida Mall for a fun day (at least for us girls) of shopping.
First stop….
were we all made our very own bag of m&m’s. Love the wall of colour.
We visit quite a few stores…..
Had the girls Santa photos taken. Amy was such a good sport.
And we had a first golden spotting of the trrip (two in fact).
Lunch consisted of an amazing Peppermint Shake from Godiva and a rice salad from the food court.
More shopping…. another trip to Bath & Body Works….
New suitcases (bought for Germany and to transport our shopping home) from Macy’s…
A new build a bear for Amy and clothes for hippo for Christy.
And lastly a visit to Sephora.
I think Christy was glad when it was all over.
We headed back home for a short rest (we’d been at the mall from 10am – 3.30pm) before heading back out to the Grand Flordian Resort. We arrived just as the fireworks were going off at the Magic Kingdom.
Oh, boy, the lobby has to be seen to be believed. Just check out the size of the tree! And there was a live band playing.
We were here to have dinner at…
A character meal with Prince Charming, who was most charming and insisted on having a photo with me since it was my wedding anniversary.
We then met the lovely Cinderella…
and her step-sisters and step-Mum… who were rather funny….
I must admit my dinner doesn’t look much (and I served it on a kids Mickey plate just because I could) but everything was so delicious.
Desert was equally yummy but I didn’t eat too much of it.
After dinner we had a look around the resort and checked out the gingerbread house (so big it serves as a shop). We had wanted to buy some gingerbread but it was all covered in chocolate so we didn’t bother.
We finished our visit with a family photo in front of the tree.
