Category: A day in my Life

This morning I was up bright and early as you can see. I’ve been getting up around 5am for the last few weeks. As usual I took my pain meds, had a cup of tea and watched youtube.

A bit later I painted my nails.

Amy was sick so staying home from school and Christy was headed off to Canberra for the Year 5/6 camp. She was so excited and happy about her Dad dropping her off at the school.

Unfortunately I still had to go to the school as I had uniform shop. After they left I had my shower and got dressed.

Then made myself some breakfast, which I ate while unpacking the dishwasher.

 

 

At 8.20am I headed off to the school.

It was busier than I’d expected, probably because of school photos next week.

After I was finished I headed to Aldi. I haven’t shopped here in over a year so it was interesting to see what new stuff they had.

I was especially happy at the price of the almonds. I usually pay around $17 per kilo and we go through heaps!!!

Of course, I couldn’t get many of my groceries here, but I did better than expected,

so next I headed over to Woolworth, just a few minutes drive away. Actually I could walk there quicker than I could drive. I was excited to see all these new teas… but I didn’t buy any.

 

 

And check out the size of these packets of clinkers. You’ll be pleased to know I didn’t buy any :-). They might be my fav. candy but they are chock full of nasties!

 

 

I was so tired by the time I reached check out….

 

 

and felt I deserved a yummy watermelon smoothie from Wendy’s.

 

 

I bought one for Amy as well and got the groceries into the back of the car.

 

Back home I found some guilty puppies….

Not quite the welcome home I had expected. And I know Bailey was the ringleader.

I quickly filmed the cold stuff for my grocery haul and got it put away.

 

Then I made a cup of tea and put my feet for a few minutes before making lunch for both Amy and myself. Mine was the pita bread with cheese, hummus, tomato and lettuce.

I got the rest of the groceries filmed and put away and before I knew it was 3pm and time to go get Christy from school (Thanks to Debbie for picking up this mistake :-)). Back home I retreated to the lounge again as I was exhausted.

Shortly afterwards Nan & Pop came over for a visit and chat.

Then it was time to make a start on dinner.

While it was cooking I made up rolls for Kevin & Amy’s lunch tomorrow.

Kevin arrived home about 5.30pm with a gift from Germany – a prize I had won in a YouTube giveaway.

I rarely enter online competitions so when I do you know it’s something I REALLY want to win…. in this case some German chocolate!!! Thanks so much Constanze.

Time for dinner. Tonight we had mandarin soy pieces with brown rice – a really old family favourite (I used to make it with chicken which means I’ve been making this for more than 9 years!!!)

Finally it was time to get into my jammies (one of my favourite parts of the day) and watch some TV with Kevin.

We also watched a documentary on vikings while enjoying some strawberries with cream. Amy joined us but mainly read fan fiction on her ipad.

Around 9pm we headed up to bed and I managed to read a few blogs before falling asleep.

I was up around 5.30am, watched some YouTube and drank tea. Kevin & Amy headed off to work & school at 7am. As you can see I was left with a messy kitchen thanks to Amy and a friend had slept over.

Later I went upstairs to wake up Christy. She said she was feeling sick and not going to school.

I then worked on todays list while enjoying a green tea.

Just after 9am I headed out for a walk with the dogs.

Such a gorgeous morning out.

I was wearing long sleeves but it was really a bit warm for that once I started walking.

On the way home I stopped to photograph this tree that I always admire.

Christy was feeling a bit better and requested french toast for breakfast.

I made myself a green mango smoothie.

Yum!!!

Christy decided she was feeling better so I took her up to school. The pups came for the ride.

Then it was time to clean up outside. A few weeks ago we got rid of the BBQ and this is all the stuff that was stored up it.

Ah… much better.

Time for some lunch. One salad for me today, one for me tomorrow, and one for Amy tomorrow.

I then spent a bit of time on the computer editing some vlogs before it was time to go and get Christy from school. Amy has drama tonight so she goes to Kevin’s work after school and they go out for dinner before her class.

Christy was so sweet and had bought me this lovely poster of the pups in the basket at the school book fair.

Later she took Bailey on a walk to meet a friend.

I finally got my desk all tidied up. It really needs a proper reorganise again but I’ll leave this another day.

Todays afternoon snack was mushroom & potato soup.

I found somewhere to put my new poster.

And spent a bit of time with Christy discussing plans for her room reno – which is taking place for her birthday, and in preparation for high school next year.

I got changed into my pjs and set to work on dinner, grilling some quorn fillets (extras for lunch tomorrow),

which I added to some stir fried veggies with bone suckin’ sauce and brown rice. Delicious.

I enjoyed dinner while watching an episode of Secret Eaters. Good motivation.

Finally at 8.30pm I headed up to bed (Christy who had been playing minecraft came up shortly afterwards). I read on my kindle until Kevin & Amy arrived home and shortly afterwards went to sleep.

Today marks the start of the Tour de France. Ok, it actually started late last night but I always record it and watch as soon as I wake up – which this morning was around 5 am.

I started watching a review of last years race, then went on to watch stage 1.

While I enjoyed some tea and the race, the pups went back to sleep.

Eventually the sun came up and revealed some blue sky, which we haven’t seen in over 8 days!!

I made myself a cheese & pineapple jaffle, and more tea, for breakfast.

And watched with horrified amazement when the Australian team bus got wedged under the finishing line. Love how it’s now known as the Orica Greenwedge bus :-).

Finally after way too many hours watching the race, I finally got myself showered and dressed and headed out with the pups on a walk.

They haven’t been out the last few days due to the rain, so they were pretty excited.

It was lovely down by the lake, but it was very muddy so the dogs didn’t get off for a run.

So nice to see the sun again.

Back home I tried to book tickets to the movies, but it wouldn’t accept my gift cards.

Of course, that meant the movie theatre was going to be super busy!!! I’ve NEVER seen it so crowded (I even had trouble finding a car park) and just as we took our seats the movie started :-).

The girls and I all enjoyed the movie. From the theatre you could see some rain was still about.

We headed back home and I got into some comfy clothes and vegged out on the couch watching YouTube.

while I enjoyed some cheese & crackers.

A few hours later I prepared a very easy dinner (using a packet).

Then the girls and I watched Breaking Dawn Part 2, concluding our Twilight marathon – something we always do when Kevin goes away.

I also painted my nails.

Time for my last night sharing my bed with Christy as Kevin gets home tomorrow morning.
