Squats are evil

Okay, so maybe it’s my own fault for missing my last 2 weeks worth of lower body workouts, or maybe it’s my fault for not having done squats for a couple of months, or maybe it’s just that squats are evil.  I’m voting that squats are evil. I had no more than finished doing 2 sets of weighted squats and taken 2 steps when I realised I was in trouble. My upper legs were already painful. Now normally I won’t feel DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) until the next day or at the earliest late in the day I’ve worked that muscle. NOT immediately afterwards. Needless to say yesterday afternoon and today it’s sore to walk, painful to sit and stand and agony to walk up or down the stairs (guess who’s spending the day downstairs).

An unusual (and sad) week

Well, you can probably guess from the sad title that my grandfather passed away on Thursday night. Though we are sad it was really a blessing. Granny and Mum have both coped way better than I expected but like me we all know its for the best. He was 86 and had alzheimers which was quickly progressing. He certainly wasn’t the Poppa I knew and loved all my life in the last couple of years. It was lucky I took the girls in to see on Thurs afternoon and we got to say our goodbye.

So with this happening and Amy still not being well and off school much of last week it’s been a most unusual week. I can’t wait to one day getting back into my normal routine. Most shocking I just realized I have only been the gym once in the last 3 1/2 weeks!!!! This coming week my goal is to go 6 dyas – or least exercise at home if I can’t make it the gym. I’ve been suffering from a VERY sore back at night and I’m pretty sure it’s related to no exercise – that I need to get a new mattress for our bed – will be cheaper if it’s lack of exercise.

Had my book group yesterday and as always it was lovely to catch up with all the girls. Today we’re off to a slow start with both Kevin and I having a bad nights sleep. I think he needs to go into work for a while and we’re also planning to see Pirates of the Carribbean while Mum & Dad are around to babysit (I think the’re planning to head back out on Tues after the funeral on Monday afternoon).

Advice – Do not go to "Sugar Fix"

when you’re trying to reduce sugar consumption and money spending……. Hmmm…. it all went out the window today. Amy needed some moulding clay for a school project (she has to make a model of the solar system) and the only place i knew I could get it was at Miranda. So Christy and I went there today. I set off with the best of intentions – even packed my own snacks. I did okay until I got upset by a saleslady – probably not her fault but I must be emotional today. Then that was it – I decided to go to sugar fix. This store has stuff from the USA and UK and since I don’t go very often (I refuse to visit the website – that would be deadly) so I tend to stock up a bit. Today I bought some christmas presents and a few things for the family to share. Didn’t do too badly with the spending money – most was christmas presents – but I did buy some sheet for Amy (could have waited but scared the line is discontinued and this matches her new quilt cover) and a christmas bear for Christy. Another bear you might say? I know it seems a waste but it was only $10 and she was very well behaved. I know i’ll be donating it before long so I just looked at it like a charity donation.
