Trick or Treat

IMG_7075.JPG

Happy Halloween. Hope those of you that celebrate had a great night.

IMG_7046.jpg

My day started like all others of late, with a lovely sunrise walk. Since Christy was at Montessori this week she was able to wear a Halloween t-shirt to school.

IMG_7245.jpg

And for a surprise, everyone (except me) got some chocolates in their lunch.

IMG_7277.jpg

Not to worry, I bought these two goodies for myself yesterday. The owl cup holder was from Typo and the Flamingo mug from Big W. Love them both so much!!!

IMG_7051.jpg

As you can see the veggie garden has started to take off. I think I might even be able to pick some of these lettuces next week.

The girls had friends over this afternoon, and had fun making some cupcakes.

Before getting dressed up to go trick or treating. Amy is a member of the Black Parade (from a song by My Chemical Romance) and Christy is someone from Monster High.

After an hour out collecting lollies & chocolates (and an orange) they returned home and finished decorating the cupcakes.

They turned out so cute.

IMG_7275.JPG

After the guests left and Amy (with Kevin) headed out to drama, I turned off the lights so I could enjoy my Halloween candles.

Best ever vegetable pie

Today started with another early morning as I had to take Amy for a trial day at the Montessori High School as she also keen to attend next year. After dropping her off I took the pups to the vets. They are all healthy but have gained a few kilos since their last visit.

IMG_6763.jpg

After the vets I had to visit the Corrimal Bakery, which was just a 5min drive…

Because they sell THE BEST vegetable pies ever. I love that it’s full of mashed potato, and with only a pastry bottom they probably aren’t “too” bad for you. So it was an easy dinner for me tonight.

IMG_6768.jpg

We’ve been playing card games after dinner and tonight it was “spoons” – my first time playing this, can’t say I liked it that much but it was okay.

IMG_6769.jpg

Now that we’ve finished Breaking Bad, we are watching Vikings. I painted my nails while we watched.

IMG_6799.jpg

Other highlights today include my new wifi connection just for my youtube. Don’t I have the best hubby? All our connections are called piggy so guess what it’s called? 🙂

Christy came home with this cute drawing today.

And I’m happy to report that Amy thoroughly enjoyed her day at Montessori, and is excited to attend next year.

Christy’s Birthday week

If you follow me on instagram or facebook, you will already know that this week we celebrated Christy’s 12th Birthday.

The big day started with presents in our bed (a tradition she was still keen to maintain).

IMG_5721.jpg

Her big present this year was getting her room renovated but you still need to have some presents to unwrap on the day.

IMG_5736.jpg

Breakfast of pancakes was kindly made by Amy.

IMG_5745.JPG

As was the cake to take to school, with both girls helping with the decorating.

IMG_6287.jpg

That night we were joined by Nan (just back from hospital) and Pop for a dinner of Christy’s fav foods – Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, cheesy cauliflower bake and corn.

IMG_5774.JPG

Then another cake made by Amy..this time chocolate mud cake.

IMG_6294.JPG

IMG_6293.jpg

Then on the weekend she celebrated with her friends. Firstly at the roller skating rink.

IMG_5802.JPG

Love this action shot of Christy doing the limbo – she actually got out on this round.

IMG_5799.JPG

Having a rest, and a chat.

IMG_6352.jpg

Back at our place they headed into the pool for a swim.

IMG_5808.JPG

Then it was time for the lunch, that Amy had prepared. And I’ve only just realized that in ALL the birthday photos, there is not ONE of Amy – and she did so much of the work. She does appear in the day in the life video however :-).

IMG_5812.jpg

I wasn’t going to buy balloons, but she really wanted them.

IMG_5815.jpg

It was so lovely that she got to celebrate the day with her 3 best friends, 2 of whom stayed for a sleepover.

IMG_5824.jpg

Amy did such an amazing job organising all the food, including making sandwiches, Anzac cookies, chocolate truffles, butterfly cakes and this delicious birthday cake. I think she was all cooked out by the end of it.

IMG_5828.JPG

The girls spent the afternoon playing. We order takeaway pizza for dinner. Amy, Kevin & I got to relax and watch TV. The next day I made them pancakes for breakfast and they played and swam until the Powell’s arrived for lunch. It was a very fun weekend but I definitely need a quieter week after the last one :-).

Easter Sunday Brunch and Egg Hunt

On Easter Sunday we had our second annual Easter Brunch.

IMG_0543.JPG

This year featured scrambled eggs, baked beans, breakfast potatoes (first time making these & they were fab), pikelets with jam & cream, banana bread and, of course, hot cross buns.

IMG_0542.JPG

And I have report there was not much left :-).

IMG_0545.JPG

After we were full the girls went on an Easter egg hunt, organised by Amy.

The final clue was with Kevin.

IMG_0559.JPG

As you can see Christy was very pleased with her loot.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing. The kids swam, rode scooters and ate chocolate.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter.
