And we’re off….. again

This time to Burrill Lakes – to spend our Easter with the Powells (in Mum & Dad’s van). Hoping for better weather than we had last year – not that the forecast is good. I may or may not have internet connection.

In case you were wondering about the cute baby –  I was looking for a photo from last Easter and came across this. It’s Christy way back in 2002 – her first Easter. The hairy arm belongs to my Dad :-).

A Sunday afternoon outing

Bikes

A fairly lazy Sunday. Kevin & the girls went out fishing for a bit (not that they caught anything). I pottered around the house, making some soup, tidying up after the party and scrapbooking a few pages. We watched a bit of TV when they got back, then around 4.30pm Kevin suggested a bike ride. He didn’t have to ask twice. It was overcast but had been all day.

We headed up the road in the search of a playground I had heard about but not visited before.

Sunday afternoon bike ride

It was about a 15min bike ride and a little bit of paradise in the suburbs. If it wasn’t for the distant noise of freeway you could have been deep in the countryside.

There was even a river, complete with ducks. They came to see us in search of food so next time we’ll be sure to bring some bread.

The kids, including the big one, found a tree to climb.

And finally, a play at the park before riding back home.

Amy at the park

It was a lovely outing and I’m sure we’ll be doing this again very soon.

Amy’s 10th Birthday Party

I think it’s safe to say that Amy had a fantastic time at her Popstar Party. Everyone met at our place and we drove them to the recording studio, where they sang and dance for 90mins. At the end they receieved a CD with 6 of the songs they had sung

We then headed back to our place for some party food, they then played for a bit. Then it was time to open presents, cut the ice-cream cake (another recipe from Our Red House – so yummy). Ice-cream cake

I think they had a great time. The Powell stayed for dinner so the fun continued until around 9pm. A full, but very fun day.

My baby is TEN!!!!

I can’t believe it. My first born turned 10 years old yesterday. It has gone by so quickly yet at the same time it seems like she has always been a part of our lives. I find it impossible to remember my day to day life before she was born. I guess I went to work, watched TV, read and slept and generally had lot of “ME” time :-).

We started her day by opening presents in our bed. She had been up since 4.30am (she got up just as I was heading back to bed after not being able to sleep since 3am). Her “main” present was a watch. It’s got a blue face and I just love it. Luckily she does too.

Since it was school day Amy opted for a quick breakfast of cold cereal (but one of the ones I never normally buy). She took cupcakes to school. I got the recipe from Our Red House – thanks Kate. They turned out great and were a big hit.

After school she has singing lessons so while she was there I organised a little afternoon tea party for her with Nan & Pop also joining us.

Of course there was a birthday day. A rich chocolate cake with cream. Yum – even if it was a bit lot overcooked.

If you’re wondering what Christy is wearing, the girls had a school disco tonight.

Amy certainly seemed to enjoy her special day and she still has her Popstar Party to look forward to on Satuday, and I have another cake to make.
