I’ve become a homebody

Evening sky

I’ve realized that over the last few weeks I’ve become a real homebody. Sure I still get out the gym, doing volunteer work at the school, running the kids around, shopping, etc, but given the choice I seem to prefer being at home. I’ve got myself into a groove with my housework and running the home. I am happy being at home for most of the day just me and dogs (and other animals).

However, the downside is I haven’t made any new friends for a couple of years and my school mum friends have all gone back to work (at least part time) which means I don’t see them very much. My older playgroup mums are the same. And my really old school friends (hi Leanne!!) live an hour away. All of which means I really don’t do any socializing most weeks. I need to work on this but I’m not sure how.

I realized the extent of my problem early this morning. There is a bus trip I want to do – a tour of local op shops. I was thinking who I could ask to come with me but came up with no-one!!! Which I thought was pretty sad. There is one friend I could ask but I just don’t know if she’d be interested (or be working that day) – only one way to find out I guess. If not I think I’ll go alone (I’ve had visit on op shop on my yearly to-do list for a couple of years now and it would be nice to cross it off). Who knows, I might even make a new friend.

In the meantime I really am happy being a homebody :-).

This goes with that

Well, it’s been a LONG time since I was able to shop in Sussan’s and that used to be their advertising jingle. Actually I don’t think I’ve shopped there since maybe Uni – they only go up to 16s. In desperation, after exhausting Target and my 2 other usual shops for clothes (and finding only ONE top) I thought maybe I might be able to fit into something at Sussan’s. Really not sure what to expect and I was pleasantly suprised at the range – young and fresh without being too teenagery – just what I was looking for. And best of the size 16’s fitted – YEAH!!! I tried on a heap of clothes (luckily was Mum was hand to help) and came home with 4 tops and two shrugs. I got some brown pants from Myers and am all set. Thank goodness. With the weather finally having turned warm for more than one day at a time I was pretty much out of clothes to wear.

Oh, and I had to get two pair of summer shoes as I’ve gone down a half a size with my weight loss and last years shoes are too big. This pair is my favourite.

Todays challenge

tea at the computer

…. staying away from the computer.

Having kids home from school and feeling lazy this week has found me sitting on my backside in front of the computer for far too many hours this week. In fact according to rescue time I have already logged over 26 hours since last Sunday (and it didn’t count Thursday for some reason). That’s a whole day on the computer – mind you Amy has been using it a bit as well so it’s not ALL me. But today I am going to turn it off (now that’s I’ve read most of my blogsa and checked my e-mail). Instead I plan to do some scrapbooking, maybe start work on my Christmas Notebook (since quite a few bloggers have started talking about Christmas in recent weeks and I’ve already bought a few presents). I also need to vacuum, help the kids tidy their stuff up and get a few groceries for lunch tomorrow (we’re having visitors). Okay, I’m hitting the shutdown button as soon as I publish this. And I won’t be back till much later this afternoon – I PROMISE!!!

UPDATE : I managed to stay away from the computer until 4.45pm but for some reason I still didn’t seem to get much accomplished. I did have a nice day though.
