Today…

FOR TODAY

Outside my window…it’s a gorgeous day.. but a little on the breezy side

I am enjoying… a Christmas tea that I found in cupboard. It was a nice surprise as I thought there were none left.

I am thinking… about decorating for Chrismtas

I am listening….to Christy’s lullaby music. She is home sick and upstairs asleep.

I am thankful… that I still managed to get my workouts despite a crazy morning.

In the kitchen… I’m cleaning the sink. Later today I plan on making chia cookies & bliss balls.

I am wearing… comfy clothes – 3/4 pants, a t-shirt and my crocs

I am creating… a photobook for a Christmas present

I am going… to finish off cleaning downstairs when my breaktime is over

I am wondering… how I’m going to fit in everything I want to do today

I am reading… Catching Fire (Hunger Games book 2) again before the movie comes out

I am hoping… Christy feels better soon and we can work out what is going on with her health.

IMG_7124.jpg

I am looking forward to… a pretty quiet, normal week

I am learning… to prioritize “today’s top 3” things to do

Around the house… I am taking down Halloween decor

I am pondering… placing an order from iherb

A favorite quote for today… “Change your thoughts and you’ll change your world”

One of my favorite things… my new flamingo mug

A few plans for the rest of the week: Working around the home and hopefully going to the Viking Exhibit on the weekend (we to cancel going on Sat because Christy was sick)

A peek into my day… a walk with the dogs, exercise bike, cleaning downstairs, baking, ironing, editing videos and replying to comments.

Trick or Treat

IMG_7075.JPG

Happy Halloween. Hope those of you that celebrate had a great night.

IMG_7046.jpg

My day started like all others of late, with a lovely sunrise walk. Since Christy was at Montessori this week she was able to wear a Halloween t-shirt to school.

IMG_7245.jpg

And for a surprise, everyone (except me) got some chocolates in their lunch.

IMG_7277.jpg

Not to worry, I bought these two goodies for myself yesterday. The owl cup holder was from Typo and the Flamingo mug from Big W. Love them both so much!!!

IMG_7051.jpg

As you can see the veggie garden has started to take off. I think I might even be able to pick some of these lettuces next week.

The girls had friends over this afternoon, and had fun making some cupcakes.

IMG_7262.JPG

Before getting dressed up to go trick or treating. Amy is a member of the Black Parade (from a song by My Chemical Romance) and Christy is someone from Monster High.

After an hour out collecting lollies & chocolates (and an orange) they returned home and finished decorating the cupcakes.

They turned out so cute.

IMG_7275.JPG

After the guests left and Amy (with Kevin) headed out to drama, I turned off the lights so I could enjoy my Halloween candles.

Do you decorate for Halloween or go Trick or Treating?

2 birds in 2 days!

On Sunday night I let Bailey out to see what I thought was a moth (he had been watching through the window) but was instead this cute little baby bird. It seemed unjured but since it was dark I bought it inside overnight, to take to the vets for a checkover in the morning.

IMG_7174.JPG

Monday morning started with the usual morning walk.

IMG_7018.jpg

Spotted some Rosellas in the trees today.

IMG_7016.jpg

Then I had to drive Christy to High School. Yep, she’s spending a week in year 7 at the Montessori school just as a final check to make sure she fits in with the way of teaching, and to make sure she likes it, which she does. But driving to and from twice a day has lost me 6 hours this week!!! Thankfully the girls should be able to catch a bus next year.

After I dropped her off I headed to the vets, who told me the bird (can’t remember what type) was a fledgling and is able to fly. So I bought him back home and sent him off with his Mum & Dad, who came from the trees behind us when they heard him chirping.

Be sure to watch the video if you’d like to see his release back into the wild.

Then, you won’t believe it but that night we found another baby bird in Mum & Dad’s backyard. He seemed healthy as well but he couldn’t fly. So we had another overnight visitor.

Tuesday morning.

IMG_7041.jpg

Walk, weights workout, Christy to school and another visit to the vets. This time I left the bird behind to be handed over to WIRES, who will look after him until he can fly, and then most likely he will be brought back to the area and released. Oh, and this one is a Wattlebird.

I then headed down to Shellharbour Square to meet up with Mel for morning tea and some shopping. I totally forgot about taking photos so be sure to watch my day in the life vlog if you want to see more of my day.

Hmm… funny that the few photos I took are all of Christmas stuff :-).

IMG_7212.jpg

Two questions today.

One, do you ever find baby birds in your yard? We seem to have a few each year (by only in recent years)

Two, have you bought any Christmas decorations yet? I’ve picked up a couple of things but won’t by any more until I get my house decorated and see if I have more room available.

Basketball season begins

Once again the day started with a walk to the lake. However, today it was a bit later (it was cool out this morning) and I had Kevin with me.

IMG_6979.jpg

We let the dogs off for a run and they chased the swans away.

IMG_7102.JPG

Back home I decided it was time they had a bath.

IMG_6991.JPG IMG_7105.jpg

Then I helped Kevin finish off the cable room. It was in desperate need of a good declutter and tidy (which you will know if you saw the vlog on the 22nd). Such an improvement. And now I don’t have to worry about injuring myself when I go in there.

IMG_7111.jpg IMG_7112.jpg

For an afternoon snack I made some kale chips. Love that the girls really enjoy these.

IMG_6998.JPG

It was the best day outside.

IMG_6995.JPG

So I took the dogs out for a brush and foot fur trim (which was well overdue).

IMG_7124.JPG

IMG_7127.JPG

Then I sat out in the pavilion for a while working on my Germany photo book (yep, still working on that !!!!)

IMG_7137.JPG

Then tonight was the first home game of the basketball season.

IMG_7140.JPG

And it was a special one for the Hawks who celebrated 1000 games.

IMG_7149.JPG

They also retired the jersey of my fav player ever – Melvin Thomas.

IMG_7160.JPG

I was very excited to find baked sweet potatoes on offer for dinner. Much yummier than the salad wrap I am usually stuck with.

IMG_7001.JPG

We had some unusual and funny entertainment tonight.

IMG_7162.JPG

And best of all we won. Yay!

IMG_7167.JPG

Kevin came with me tonight as the girls were having dinner at Nan’s. Christy is my usual basketball partner as Kevin really isn’t very interested any more, but he was good enough to come with me. We had to pick up our tickets and I didn’t want any hassles.

Do you have any events you attend without your partners? In addition to the basketball, I sometimes attend concerts on my own, though nowadays one of the girls might come with me.
