A Day in the life – 14th June, 2012

Up really early this morning – around 4.30am!!! I don’t mind 5am but before that is getting a bit too early. Got plenty of videos watched on youtube though. Kevin joined me around 6am – so he was up early too.

IMG_2214.jpg

Took my meds and had a cup of tea.

IMG_3132.JPG

When Amy came down she had to complete her Germany excursion forms and then she and Kevin left at 7am.

IMG_3133.JPG

It was another dreary morning out – looks much brighter in this photo.

IMG_3134.JPG

I went up to check on Christy – who was still in bed and not too happy to be woken up. I left her to get ready.

IMG_3135.JPG

and went to make my bed and shower and get dressed.

IMG_3137.JPG

Of course, my best buds came with me.

IMG_3138.JPG

Time to get the washing on.

IMG_3139.JPG

and the budgies fed – gee, do you think they were hungry?

IMG_3145.JPG

I then sat with Christy and had breakfast. Had a craving for crumpets are seeing them on the internet somewhere.

IMG_3146.JPG

Then it was time for the school run. Luckily Bailey doesn’t mind the rain…or the cold… we freeze in the car just to make him happy.

IMG_3147.JPG

There was some very low cloud around this morning which was rather weird.

IMG_3149.JPG

Back home I put the clothes in the dryer, hanging up the few items that can’t go in.

IMG_3153.JPG

Time for another cup of tea. I ended up ordering some Kora Organic skin care products which I’ve been looking into for a while.

IMG_3154.JPG

Then I bundled up, complete with beanie, and took the dogs on their walk.

IMG_3157.JPG

I got to wear my jacket from Alaska – quite fitting as this time last year were there.

IMG_3159.JPG

Here’s more of that low cloud.

IMG_3158.JPG

A bit further along and the sun was trying to appear….

IMG_3160.JPG

but the rainbow tells me the rain is still around. Luckily we didn’t get any and boy was I hot with my jacket when we got back. But I’d really needed it for at least half the walk.

IMG_3162.JPG

Back home I got to work tidying up my desk, with yet another cup of tea.

IMG_3164.JPG

And I wrote a cheque for the deposit for our Germany trip. Still can’t believe we’re going. So unexpected, but just too good an opportunity to turn down. And Christy is so excited to be staying with Nan & Pop.

IMG_3165.JPG

And would you look at the weather now!!!!

IMG_3166.JPG

I worked on some paperwork for the uniform shop and spent a good portion of time chasing up an order, even going up to the school to check it wasn’t there. On my 5th phone call to the suppliers we discover that the order in question just shipped. I’m a little suspicious of the timing but at least it’s not lost somewhere.

And look I’ve now got a clear desk. For now. It’s definitely a major hot spot in the house.

IMG_3168.JPG

The dryer has finished (though I’m now thinking it could have been hung out), so I fold up what can be folded.

IMG_3167.JPG

Then time to do some ironing while watching youtube videos.

IMG_3169.JPG

Then lunch. Bagels with hummus, cheese and tomato.

IMG_3175.JPG

It’s been a rather busy morning. So I just hung out with my lap top for 2 hours, until it’s time to collect the girls. I pulled in just behind the bus today. We dropped off Emerson, collected Christy (who had walked to Emerson’s) and then dropped off Amy (near home) before heading down to the mall, where we park for Christy’s singing lessons.

IMG_3177.JPG

After getting her regular finger bun from Bakers Delight, she heads off to the place of her lessons (just outside the mall). I walk around to confirm I need to fast for a blood test (which I do so I’ll come back in the morning). I then do the uniform shop banking and visit the chemist (for a refill of my anti-inflamatories). I then go around to wait for Christy’s lesson to finish.

IMG_2223.jpg

We got back about 4.15 and I think about dinner but can’t decide what too cook, as my feet are a bit sore now. Pop brings over the mail and I’m excited to get this. Woo hoo!!! Extra spending for Disneyworld.

IMG_2225.jpg

At 5.15pm I take Amy up to dancing. We’re currently attending two dance schools (until next week’s concert)

IMG_3180.JPG

Kevin arrives home just after I do and wants me to help him pack for a diving conference he’s attending in Queensland for the next week.

IMG_3183.JPG

I consult the fridge for inspiration but not finding any, despite it being fully stocked, we decide to get takeaway pizza.

IMG_3181.JPG

I wanted to have a bath while Kevin went to pick it up but Christy beat me too it so I had to share with her, and her toys.

IMG_3187.JPG

I’m not sure which lush product she put in but this one had little hearts in it. So fun.

IMG_3189.JPG

The biggest problem having a bath with Christy is that it’s not quite as warm/hot as I’d like.

Time for dinner while watching Museum Secrets. In case you were wondering that’s a cavemans skull on the screen that they are pretty sure was cannabilized. Good topic for dinner hey?

IMG_3193.JPG

After Museum Secrets we watched Got to Dance before heading up to bed around 9pm. I was so tired tonight but managed to get a little bit of reading before lights out.

A day in my Life – 1st June, 2012

So excited a few of you are joining me in my June challenge. Let me know if you’re participating and I’ll put a list together so we can support each other.

It’s so hard getting out of bed in the mornings these days.

IMG_2944.JPG

On top of my normal routine I put the heater on for Bailey…

IMG_2109.jpg

and let the chickens out. I’ve actually been locking them in at night because they kept sleeping outside.

IMG_2947.JPG

Another gorgeous sunrise I don’t get to fully enjoy.

IMG_2950.JPG

Amy was up and getting her lunch and breakfast organised. She and Kevin headed off at 7am.

IMG_2952.JPG

Christy was down shortly afterwards making her own breakfast.

IMG_2954.jpg

I was feeling pretty poorly this morning (due to my arthritis) so hung out on my laptop for awhile. I even booked our first lunch at Disneyworld with Winnie the Pooh and friends :-).

IMG_2116.jpg

After Christy headed off to school I made an effort to get my morning chores completed and took up some of Amy’s clothes to her room.

IMG_2956.JPG

I then indulged in a nice, warm bath as I find that really helps with the pain.

IMG_2960.JPG

It worked, and after I got dressed and put on a load of washing, I took the dogs out on a walk.

IMG_2962.JPG

Such a gorgeous first day of Winter. I was even wearing a t-shirt.

IMG_2965.jpg

It was a bit of a slower walk than normal – I didn’t even wear my proper walking shoes. But it felt good to out and moving in the fresh air.

IMG_2968.JPG

Back home, around 11am, and I was finally interested in eating breakfast. Half a bagel with hummus and cheese and a cup of tea.

IMG_2976.JPG

I played more on the computer until it was time to head off….

IMG_2977.JPG

for a facial. Just what I needed as I was also battling a bad headache this morning. I left Fran, my beautician, feeling very mellow and relaxed. And with super shiny skin and greasy hair (hence the lack of photos of me today).

IMG_2979.JPG

Love coming home and seeing these guys waiting at the door.

IMG_2982.JPG

And Rosie always has to bring us not one, but two, toys.

IMG_2984.JPG

I made myself a late lunch with last nights leftovers in a wrap.

IMG_2987.JPG

Then it was time to go and get the girls from school. We collected Christy on the way home as well.

IMG_2121.jpg

I was looking at the weeks forecast….hmmm… not looking so good….

IMG_2988.jpg

so I quickly took a bale of straw out for the chickens so their yard doesn’t turn into a big mud puddle. Love how they don’t worry about Bailey exploring their yard.

IMG_2994.JPG

I then went over to have a chat with Mum & Dad before returning home to put the chickens to bed. Gets dark so early now – just after 5pm.

IMG_2995.JPG

Time to put my jammies on and wait for Kevin to get home.  Don’t you just love my socks and crocs? 🙂 I’m a good girl and always wear my shoes.

IMG_2997.JPG

The girls have dinner at Nan & Pop’s on Friday nights (and Amy was sleeping over) so we had a very easy dinner of a cheese omelette, which Kevin played with helped to prepare.

IMG_3000.JPG

We ate while watching Flying Wild Alaska.

IMG_3004.JPG

Then Christy was VERY excited to watch this weeks episodes of Got To Dance.

IMG_3007.JPG

Kevin headed up to bed around 8.30pm and Christy and I around 9.15pm. I then started on the latest Sookie Stackhouse book and read until 10.30pm when I made myself turn off the kindle :-).

A Day in my Life – 7th May, 2012

Up just after 6am this morning. Bailey likes to lie out for awhile and come and bark at the door when he’s ready to come back in. Of course, he nearly always waits until I’m settled with my laptop and tea.

IMG_1858.JPG

Normal before school routine with Kevin and Amy heading off just after 7am. Christy emptied the dishwasher – she’s now earning some extra pocket money for doing this job each morning.

IMG_1867.JPG

We then had breakfast. Overnight oats for me. Never pretty but they taste oh-so good.

IMG_1869.jpg

You know I never noticed the little feet on the tablecloth until this morning when Christy and I were examining it. While eating I started to compose todays to-do list.

IMG_1870.JPG

At 8.30 the girls headed to school and the pups and I headed out on our walk.

IMG_1873.JPG

Gorgeous down at the lake this morning. The sky was full of dark clouds with the sun trying to poke through.

IMG_1876.jpgIMG_1888.JPG

And I was so excited to see this little duck family with Mum & Dad at the front and back of the line. So cute.

IMG_1886.JPG

Back home I did a quick vacuum of the main living areas.

IMG_1889.jpg

And went upstairs to shower and get dressed. I was pleasantly surprised to find Kevin had made the bed. Not something he normally does.

IMG_2756.JPG

Today I’m sporting my new “happy” socks as it’s a bit on the cooler side.

IMG_2758.JPG

Then time to tackle the linen cupboard. Have a few bags of linens to donate now.

IMG_2772.jpg IMG_2776.jpg

Next up a cuddle break with Rosie. She looks impressed doesn’t she?

IMG_2777.JPG

Next job is to haul out a bale of hay for the chooks, and clean out their house.

IMG_2787.jpg

I was pretty tired by now so glad to have an easy lunch. I scored the veggie pie that Kevin didn’t have last night. These are the best veggie pies ever but we don’t get them very often as the bakery is a 20min drive away (which is a long way in Wollongong).

IMG_2789.JPG

As I ate I worked on plans for Disneyworld.

IMG_2790.JPG

I then headed to the scrapbook room where the pups quickly found spots on the lounge for an afternoon nap….

IMG_2792.JPG

while I did a bit of scrapbooking.

IMG_2793.JPG

Before I knew it, it was 3pm and time to go collect Amy from the bus stop.

IMG_2796.JPG

She come desperate to get the next book in the series of the book she’d just finished.

IMG_2798.JPG

Christy was already home when we got back. I got to work on dinner. Country grain casserole tonight. Love this because you just chop everything up and throw it in a casserole dish to cook.

IMG_2799.JPG

I then had to curl Christy’s hair for the school disco tonight. They were supposed to wear a hat or fancy hair.

IMG_2801.JPG

Doesn’t she look gorgeous?

IMG_2802.JPG

We had another awesome sunset tonight. I was tempted to go get in the car and drive to the top of street for a better view, but I didn’t.

IMG_1900.JPG

Hmmm…does someone look guilty? I left a muffin on the coffee table while in the kitchen for a few minutes and came back to find it missing.

IMG_2811.JPG

Lucky there was one last one left. Rosie took a shine to that one and climbed right onto Kevin’s lap! She was so cute I had to give her a little bit.

IMG_2812.JPG

We had to attend a meeting at Amy’s school so Christy headed next door so Pop could take her up the disco a bit later.

IMG_2817.jpg

The meeting was about a proposed 3 week excursion to Germany next year. Nan & Pop generously offered to pay for Amy so if it goes ahead, she’ll definitely be going. And…. Kevin and I are thinking about tagging along. It’s a great price so a wonderful opportunity. Amy doesn’t mind. She knows we won’t cramp her style. Anyway, still thinking about it at this stage.

IMG_2819.JPG

We got back home just before 7.3opm so quickly heated up and enjoyed dinner, before Amy & Kevin went to collect Christy.

IMG_2820.JPG

I went to pick up the dogs and find out how my Granny is doing. Not the best it seems – very up and down from day to day. There is talk of her moving into rehabilitation next week though so that is good news. When I got back everyone was home and Amy was icing the cake she had made earlier.

IMG_2822.jpg

You’ll never guess who the cake is for. Katniss from The Hunger Games. Her birthday is tomorrow apparently and Amy wanted to take in a cake to share with her friends at school. Now that’s a diehard Hunger Games fan.

IMG_2823.JPG

I went up to get ready for bed and painted my nails. Opi’s Mermaid Tears today – one of my favs.

IMG_2825.JPG

It’s been a long day so I was glad to finally be able to relax and put my feet up while we watched an episode of Recruits (about the police force).

IMG_2826.jpg

Then it was off to bed with a cup of tea about 9pm. And I finally got my book finished tonight – I’ve been falling asleep after just a few pages the last few nights.

A day in my life – 25th April, 2012

Today started just like any other – waking around 6am, dogs out, tea make and youtube videos watched. Had to use the blanket this morning as it was COLD!

IMG_1668.JPG

It’s an Anzac Day so a public holiday. Gradually, one by one my family appeared.

IMG_1670.jpg

Amy was first downstairs and made some french toast for her breakfast.

IMG_2717.JPG

Kevin was next but went next door to do some computer work. I was starving and  had a hankering for pancakes and tried to find a healthier version. These were banana wholemeal pancakes. I ate half of one and let’s just say the dogs are going to have the rest for dinner.

IMG_2721.JPG

I went over to see what Kevin was up to and to find out how my Granny is going. Bailey had a snooze. I was there about an hour.

IMG_1676.jpg

Back home I found Christy finally up and I got on with making Anzac biscuits.

IMG_1677.JPG

Kevin decided he wanted some in donut style so Christy and he prepared those.

IMG_1678.jpg

It was nearly 12pm when I got the washing out. Luckily it’s very windy today so it should still dry before dark.

IMG_1679.JPG

The pups lay out for a bit – it was nice in the sun. Christy had spilt a drink on the couch so the cushions were out drying.

IMG_1680.JPG

We were meeting Nan & Pop for lunch at 1pm so I just had tea and banana to tied me over.

IMG_2722.JPG

The cookies/donuts were ready.

IMG_2723.JPG

and I took some panedine as I had a killer headache.

IMG_2724.JPG

I then got changed before we headed off to lunch at a nearby Thai Restaurant.

IMG_2726.JPG IMG_2727.JPG

The food is always so good here. And we had a good chat. With my Granny in hospital I haven’t seen a lot of my Mum & Dad lately.

IMG_2728.JPG IMG_2730.JPG

Amy left with Nan & Pop to go visit Granny and back home we made a discovery. My pain meds. Luckily he hadn’t eaten any.

IMG_2732.JPG

Even though it was only 3pm Kevin and I decided to enjoy a spa…

IMG_2734.JPG

before getting into our jammies.

IMG_1683.JPG

We spent some time playing on our laptops. I was doing research for our upcoming Disney World trip. It’s only 7 months away so I need to be starting on my plans.

IMG_1682.JPG

Later we enjoyed some tea and anzac cookies.

IMG_1685.JPG

and some watermelon. I always take the rind out for the chooks. They love it.

IMG_1688.jpg

While there I collected the eggs. We’re getting 6-7 a days!!!!

IMG_1690.jpg

Kevin must have known something this morning when he bought the heater out. We definitely needed it this afternoon.

IMG_2735.JPG

Around 6pm I got the dogs their dinner.

IMG_2736.JPG

Amy had gone to sleep over at Nan’s. So I prepared some potatoes, topped with TVP bolognase sauce for our dinner. Christy was watching the Power Puff Girls, so Kevin & I watched some more episodes of Becoming Erica.

IMG_1692.JPG

Later Christy joined us, and Rosie, on the couch and we watched Selling Houses and Bondi Rescue.

IMG_1695.JPG

Christy went up to bed at 8.30pm and we watched another episode of Becoming Erica before going to bed ourselves. I didn’t even get much reader done before it was lights out for me.
