The last few days

Gee, do you think someone should tell she’s a bit big to a lapdog?

Not much to report the last few days. The girls had a school disco on Monday night. It was a fundraiser for the RSPCA so the younger ones were asked to dress up. Christy wore her Scooby Doo outfit and was the hit of the night. Amy wore a lizard hat we picked up on holidays (Christy had a dog one but lost it out the car window – after being told that that’s what would happen).

Yesterday I had my hair cut, did a bit of shopping (only spent $9 in the scrapbook store – a record for me for sure), then had my nails done. Last night Kevin & I went round to my friend Sharon’s (her daugther got married today and Kevin was taking the photos). Afterwards we had a date night and went to see “What Happens in  Vegas“. Pretty funny and cute.

Today I went to the gym and then into full preparation mode for Mother’s Day tomorrow. We’re now having 12 people for lunch. I’ve made all the dishes, just need to cook and reheat in the morning. Also made up some little gift bags for the Mums/ladies. Finished cleaning around 4.30pm and got do my layout for my 28 Days class with Gretchen. Not real sure about the close up photo but it was the best I could find – I really don’t have that many photos of just me.

Was it just one year ago

disneyland

that we were at Disneyland? Seems like much longer than that. I guess life has changed a lot in the last year. We had such a great trip and have many wonderful memories. One thing that amazes me is that in the last year I have formed some internet friendships via blogs with a few girls who live in the area. IF I’d know them then I’d definitely have met up (and visited their local scrapbook shop). I met Annie first through  Heidi Swapps A year to remember class, and through her some of her friends, like JoAnn. Such a shame it wasn’t till after our trip.

To shop or not to shop

Today I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted to go to Target and do some shopping. But, after our wonderful holiday I really don’t have any spare money. Not that that always stops me. I knew I just had to stay away. I did have to talk myself out of going but I managed. Then I thought of going to the garden center but realized that would also involve spending money. So instead I just went to the gym and did a bit of tidying and gardening outside. I’ve just had a yummy salad for lunch and the danger time period is over. So no shopping or spending today.

Tomorrow, however, I need to buy a few things in town. And I was going to stop at the scrapbook store – hmmm… do you think I’ll be able to talk myself out of it….

This post from the organized mom came in at just the right time. Will re-read it before heading out tomorrow.

On Our Way

All packed

Well, we’re off on the first part of our holiday. First stop Sydney for my cousin Chris’ engagement party to the very lovely Mel.

Chris & Mel

Kevin rode up on his motorbike as he’d be leaving us on Sunday. We met at the hotel and then went to the party. Was a nice night and good to catch up with some of the relatives I hadn’t seen for a while. No-one could get over how good Kevin & I are looking (don’t mean to sound stuck up but we’ve come a long way). I mean who is the sexy man I went to the party with? Doesn’t look much like the man I’ve been married to for 16 years.

Loved the fireplace – candles on a mirror – how effective!!!

On Sunday morning we took the girls to Lollipops play center for an hour before heading over to see High School Musical on Ice. Was a good show – I think the second half (HSM2) was better but then I prefer the music from that one. The girls really enjoyed it and though we were in the second row we really didn’t have the best view. I had a Mum in front of me (which was bad enough) and she kept on holding her camera out to the side which further ruined my view. Oh well, it was still good.

From here we hit the road, driving for a couple of hours to Bulladelah, then for another few hours to Kempsey. The second half of the trip we had lots of rain. It wasn’t too bad though. I much prefer driving on these sort of roads – it’s what I’m used to – instead of the traffic in Sydney.

We got to Kempsey around 6pm, found a hotel to stay out, got some take out to eat in our room. The girls watched a movie and I read, then we all went to sleep around 8.30am.
