Day 6 – Outlet & Target Shopping

I was up about 5.30am – in time to see a bit of the sunrise (really hoping we’ll get to see to nice ones on the cruise. I bet by now you’ll know that we had a lazy morning.

We headed about shortly before 11am, stopping to take some photos of the other side of the building view – towards the Rio (whose carpark you can see)…

and of the pool, which is sadly too cold to swim in….

We caught an uber of the the South Premium Outlet Mall.

I did a pretty poor just taking photos today so you might want to check out my vlog to “see” more of what we (though I’m pretty sure I did a bad job of vlogging as well – seems to be hard to do when you’re shopping). Anyway, we visited quite a few stores including Kipling (both Christy and myself got new bags), the Disney store, Lane Byrant (Christy bought some Winter tops), and some other stores we didn’t buy anything in. Also bought some PJs for Kevin.

Christy and I were suffering with sore feet (already) so it was time for a break and to have some lunch. I got this delicious falafel pita and Christy got a cheese melt from Subway.

After lunch we wandered though a few more shops (most were clothing/sporting goods so we weren’t really interested in them), and then got an uber to the closest Target.

Sadly these are the only photos I took. Looks like I’ll be needing to get a lot of screenshots from my vlog to include in my photobook. It can definitely be a challenge doing both video and photos at the same time. If only Kevin and Christy were more onboard !!! Oh well at least a lot of our memories do get documented.

We spent a good hour or so exploring Target – picking up some stocking stuffers. Then getting a few food supplies to tide us over the next few days. And some for the cruise – though I realized after we should have just gotten them in Fort Lauderdale (since we’ll be picking up some drinks to take on the cruise anyway).

Before leaving we got a drink from Starbucks. I got a vegan green tea frappacino – which I really enjoyed.

Back home to our rather messy apartment. I still need to film a haul for yesterday and todays purchases so things are scattered about. I’m definitely much more relaxed about the state of things when I’m on holidays!!

Kevin decided against going to the Rewind Party this evening. He went last year and it’s really not his cup of tea. It was around the time we decided to have nice bubble bath that I recalled it was our 27th Wedding Anniversary today. I guess that’s what happens when you lose track of the date. Plus I hadn’t expected him to be home tonight.

After our lovely bath I put a frozen pizza in the oven. But it was horrid (Daiya mushroom & garlic pizza). So instead we decided to get Uber Eats and I was so excited when I saw Chef Kenny listed as one of the options as I’ve heard wonderful things about his vegan restuarant.

I wanted to try Orange “chicken” since that’s not something we get in Australia and some spring rolls. Kevin chose crispy “beef” and some fried wontons. Which meant of course that we had way too much food. We decided to just have the spring rolls and wontons (since they tend to go soggy when reheated). Both were incredible. I also tried a small bowl of the orange chicken – which I hadn’t realized would be battered and fried. It was still nice but not amazing. We have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow – which is our last day in Vegas.

Christy also had a bath tonight (we are all loving that it’s so nice and big and deep), and then had some Amy’s mac n cheese for dinner.

Kevin and I headed to bed about 9pm.

Day 5 – Fashion Show Mall & KA

Kevin had a full planned at the conference and headed off before 8am.

Christy and I had a slow lazy morning. I yet again battled photos for my blog and Christy enjoyed a nice bath and chatting with Makalya.

Around 11am we finally got ourselves out the door and into an Uber to the Fashion Show Mall.

We had fun visiting shops including the Disney Store, Godiva, Attic Salt, and a Christmas decoration store.

We headed to the food court for a late lunch and a rest. Kevin met us there. I had this delicious falafel & hummus pita wrap.

We hit up a few more stores like Sketchers, Crocs and finally Macy’s – where we got Christy some shoes for her Engagement Party in Ohio.

By now we were all pretty tired and with sore feet, so ubered back to the apartment. The weather hadn’t been great today. It had rained on and off and the clouds were pretty low.

Unfortunately we only had about an hour to rest up before we had to head back downstairs to get another uber.

This time we were off to the MGM, where we grabbed a quick dinner in the food court. I didn’t really know what I felt like eating so just had some noodles. They were nice and plain so just the right thing. Christy was happy to have Garlic Knots again (though was horrified to find they were spicy due to some chilli flakes that were on them)., and Kevin had ginger beef & fried rice.

After dinner we headed to the KA theatre.

stopping in at the gift shop where Christy tried on this hat.

Our seats were closer than last year and while we all loved the show, for Kevin & myself at least it didn’t have the WOW factor of seeing certain things/acts for the first time (naturally). Such a good show though. Really not sure if I like Mystere or KA better as they are really so very different.

After the show if the long walk to the Uber pick up location and then back home. We stayed up for a little while before heading to bed. Can’t believe we’ve only got a few days left in Vegas.

Day 4

Woke up after the sun this morning about 6.30am. It was another very slow morning of working on vlogs, blogs and drinking lots of tea. Everyone was the same. I wasn’t feeling great but definitely not the flare I was in yesterday. Around 11am Kevin and I had a nice bath and we all had some lunch (I had the Amy’s teriyaki bowl which was delicious) before we finally headed out at 1pm.

We got an uber to the Bellagio and wandered through the lobby and conservatory (which is as usual just being decorated for Christmas.

We explored the Christmas shop – which has beautiful (but often large and expensive) decorations for sale,

and, of course, had to show Christy the worlds largest chocolate fountain.

We then walked through the hotel/shopping area to Starbucks. Where Kevin totally forget to order my green tea fruppacino with soy milk and no cream – which i couldn’t/drink it. We also found out that the water fountain shows didn’t start until 3pm – which was still 1.5 hours away.

We decided to continue our explorations by walking to Cesar’s Palace.

We love the feel of the shopping center there, just a shame (for us) that it’s all designer stores. We did have a quick stop in a Apple Store and a longer one at Bath & Body Works.

And we managed to find the world’s best saleslady at one of the island shops (which we never stop at) selling headphones (I broke mine on the way here). Anyway, we ended up with a whole lot of stuff – including two sets of headphones – one for myself, and one for Christy. The lady (from Ukraine) was persistent but not rude or nasty. After we had made our purchase she even came over to give me a hug – which I thought was very nice and genuine – since at this stage she obviously didn’t need to do that. Kevin wasn’t sure if the product was genuine or not but it seems to be (and I can’t really imagine Cesar’s Palace with all it’s luxury brand shops, allowing fake products to be sold there).

From here were we heading back out to the Strip but were all feeling tired and sore so opted for another rest at another Starbucks. This time I got a tea (in my own keepcup).

After resting up and checking that our new headphones worked, we went outside and walked along the Strip to the Bellagio. The sun had now set and all the lights were one – which is when Vegas really does shine.

We got back to the Bellagio just as the water fountain show started. Unfortunataly we got a dud one because it started late and we only got one very short song.

Of course, after we’d left and were crossing the road via on the overhead bridges we saw that it had started back up !! Maybe we’ll try and make it back another time. Not sure I’ve seen the show at night (certainly not in the last few years) and it was really pretty.

We visited CVS in the (unsuccessful) search for soy milk. Then had to walk quite the ways to get an uber back to the Wyndham. Poor Christy is in a bit of pain (we had tried to warn her about how much walking you did in Vegas but, of course, you can’t imagine until you are here).

We then had the oddest of uber drivers whose almost first comment was to tell us that more “poofs” live in Melbourne than Sydney – or vise versa – my mind was still spinning at his choice of words. Not sure if they were meant as an insult or not but it’s not a word I’ve really heard used since the 80s (when it was very much an insult). But why he had to tell us this anyway I have no idea !!! We then found out he was very pro gun, in fear of the government running the country like Nazi Germany. Not sure why an uber driver thinks all this is acceptable conversation to have with strangers. We were all very put off and Christy felt very offended.

We were happy to be back in our room and able to sit and put our feet up. Kevin and I had vegan pasta with that expensive marinara sauce and Christy had some mozerella sticks. About 8.30pm we all headed to bed for an earlier night.

Day 3

Well despite being awake at 4am it was a very lazy morning for myself. I FINALLY got my blog posts up (still not getting all the photos uploaded that I wanted to use) but enough to share in my posts. I also managed to finish off day 1 of vlogs. Kevin headed off to the conference at 8.30am and I woke Christy up about an hour later after I’d had my shower and gotten myself ready for the day.

Breakfast was another bagel (which will be a regular occurence while we are in the States). I also filmed a haul of what I bought yesterday – thinking it be easier doing it day by day instead of keeping it all till the end. It will also allow me to see better exactly how much I have bought :-).

Sadly just as it approached the time Christy and I were due to leave and meet Kevin, I started to get a headache – which developed into sore teeth and sore legs (so in other words a bit of a fibro flare). Instead of meeting Kevin I suggested he come back home and wait until I (hopefully) felt better. It was so strange to have had such a good morning and then this flare in the afternoon. Christy pointed out that it was probably due to the big day we’d had yesterday and she’s probably right as I definitely didn’t get the rest times during the day/activity that I normally try to have and totally forgot about all my own rules that I try to follow (oops).

I took some pain relief and ate my salad for lunch. I suggested Kevin go have a nap since he was very tired and eventually I found myself also nodding off so decided to join him. I slept for about an hour and this might have just done the trick as I felt an awful lot better when I woke up. Christy had happily kept herself entertained playing Minecraft on line for much of the day.

By now it was 4pm and the sun was starting to set (it sets at 4.30pm here in the Winter) and finally time to get dressed and head out.

We decided to just visit the Wynn, then have some dinner at the Fashion Mall food court before going over the road to Treasure Island to see Mystere.

Seemed a bit strange pulling up to the Wynn (since we stayed here as guests last year). The lobby is gorgeous but I must say I was little disappointed to find the exact same display – I thought they would change it up a little each year. I think Christy was most impressed with the curved escalator that leads to Parasol Down – so of course we took a ride down and back. Though Christy (18) is the legal drinking age in Australia she is not in the States.

After taking some photos we wondered outside – taking more photos.

Then headed across to the road to the food court. Finally I got to have my tofu/eggplant dish from Panda Express (though I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I remembered). Christy had some garlic bread and we had the fun experience of the guy refusing my $50 note because he wasn’t sure it was real !! He was nice about it though and just asked for another note – which I didn’t have but Kevin did. I then gave Kevin that $50 so I wouldn’t have to deal with that again.

We ate our dinner and then walked through the mall. Kevin and Christy visited Lolli & Pop along the way. I found the smell from the store way too sickly sweet so didn’t go in.

We also stopped in at CVS for a few supplies (like Milano cookies for Christy and Biscoffs for me).

I was so excited to see Mystere again as I’d love it so much last year. And it did not disappoint. I love Red bird and Yellow Bird, the teeterboard and tumbling. It’s such a happy and high energy show and one I highly recommend. Would definitely be a fabulous introduction to Cirque de Soleil.

As we were leaving the theatre Kevin got struck with excruciating back pain – so much that he was doubled over in pain. This came and went the whole way home until he got into bed – where thankfully it seemed to go away. Not sure if it was just some crazy back spasms (he’d been complaining of a sore back) or something more sinister like Kidney Stones (fingers crossed it’s the first one).

I wasn’t that tired when we got back to our room so I read till about 10pm before I fell asleep.
