A day in my life – 1st December, 2011

IMG_6499.JPG

Slept in till 6.30am this morning. Let the dogs out, made a tea and enjoyed it while catching up on blogs. I am WAY BEHIND so if I haven’t commented on your blog for a while I will get there eventually. Kevin always tells me just to mark everything in google reader as read, but I don’t want to miss out on anything :-).

IMG_6502.JPG

Kevin and Amy headed off at 7.15am and I headed up to check on Christy, who was busy wrapping Christmas presents.

IMG_6504.JPG

I made her bed and helped her tidy up, then went and did the same for Amy.

IMG_6505.JPG

I then did the same for my room and headed for a shower. Then dressed and put on make-up. I’ve been a bit slack about wearing make-up lately but should make the effort to do it every day as I feel so much better about myself. Much more put together and not so much a frumpy housewife :-).

IMG_6526.JPG

I grabbed the girls washing baskets and got the laundry started.

IMG_6527.JPG

I then made Christy’s breakfast and lunch.

IMG_6528.JPG IMG_6529.JPG

and a juice for myself,

IMG_6530.jpg

before feeding the budgies (and having a pat of Fudgie) before moving them outside.

IMG_6537.JPG

At 8.30am Christy headed off to school….

IMG_6540.JPG

and I headed outside where I feed the chooks….who have finally discovered the side path.

IMG_6543.JPG

This is the shoe changing/wiping feeding station.

IMG_6546.JPG

Next I watered the veggie garden and bought in some lettuce for Jasmine.

IMG_6549.JPG

A load of handwashing…

IMG_6550.JPG

and I could finally make my breakfast. Today I had a “crack wrap” – cheese and hummus in a tortilla – yummo!

IMG_6552.JPG

I put my feet up and relaxed for a bit. Hey, do you like todays socks from Little Miss Matched?

IMG_6553.JPG

Next up today was some ironing.

IMG_6555.JPG

Then when my feet started to get too sore I headed out on my trike with the dogs.

IMG_6559.JPG

It was really windy down at the lake – it’s not too often you see waves!

IMG_6561.JPG

We had a great time until this…..

IMG_6569.JPG

Yep, this is the second time this has happened but at least I wasn’t too far from home this time.

IMG_6570.JPG

I think the dogs were quite appreciative of the slower pace as we walked home.

IMG_6572.JPG

With the dogs tired and resting I got ready to head out to the shops.

IMG_6574.jpg

I parked up top today as my destination was Big W in search of little gifts for the girls advent calander (Kevin wants no chocolate in it this year!!)

IMG_6575.JPG

It was lunch time I know but I was really surprised to find it so busy. Looks like I’ll need to move to early morning shopping very soon.

IMG_6576.JPG

I’m sure you can all guess what I also got. I can’t help myself. Gloria Jeans makes the BEST Iced Chocolates.

IMG_6579.JPG

Back home I found the remains of some bread I’d put out for the chickens.

IMG_6584.JPG

One guess who the guilty dog is?

IMG_6585.JPG

I then took all my purchases upstairs and made a list of what I had for the advent calander. Then went and typed it on the computer, printed it and put into the pockets. The girls will be excited because we’d talked about not bothering with the advent this year. There are some presents and lots of things to do.

IMG_6586.JPG

While I was doing this the dogs hung out in the sun.

IMG_6588.JPG

I then made and uploaded my Spring Favourites video…

IMG_6592.JPG

before having my lunch. I also picked up some Vegetarian Rice Paper Rolls while at the shops.

IMG_6594.JPG

At 2.30pm I headed into the scrapbook room and started to work on my Journal Your Christmas (December Daily) albums. But I didn’t get very far as Nan came over for a chat.

IMG_6596.JPG

Then it was time for Bailey and I to go and pick up the girls.

IMG_6598.JPG

Back home Amy made some sweet scrolls while I decided to do a bit of Christmas decorating. I didn’t get all the boxes down but have enough out to make me happy. I’ll be doing a video next week.

IMG_6600.JPG

When Christy got home from her tennis lesson it was time to do the advent calender. Today was Christmas t-shirts.

IMG_6601.JPG

The girls enjoyed a poolside fruit platter (prepared by Amy) then Christy and Shantel had a swim.

IMG_6603.JPG

I enjoyed some cherries in amongst numerous runs to dance lessons dropping various girls off.

IMG_6604.JPG

I also managed to get dinner in the oven and almost made a coconute banana bread. I had no coconut cream so had to wait until Kevin came home with it, and the girls at 6.30pm.

IMG_6609.JPG

We were just about to sit down to dinner when the Powell’s (minus Alyssa) arrived to pick up Kevin’s old prius (which they are buying). We still sat down to eat but I totally forgot to take photos, Luciky there was  some of the leftover risotto cakes for me to photograph.

IMG_6614.JPG

After dinner I made some Christmas tea in my Christmas tea pot/cups  for us girls to enjoy.

IMG_6615.JPG

IMG_6616.JPG

We then discovered the prius was no longer insured so they couldn’t take it home after all. Luckily it was suitable for us to drop it off on our way to Canberra the next day as it’s not too far out of the way.  We still had a enjoyable few hours chatting, and drinking tea. Eventually my banana bread was ready.

IMG_6617.JPG

When the Powells left about 9.30pm I sent everyone up to bed while I did some washing and tidying.

IMG_6620.JPG

Then I took off my make-up and did my skin car routine before hopping in to bed and reading for a bit. Then it was lights out around 10.30pm. It’s certainly been one of my more busy days.

A day in my Life – 14th November, 2011

Sorry this post is so late. It’s been a busy week, yet I don’t seem to have done much!!!

Monday the 14th was another normal day..except this was what greeted me when I walked into the kitchen (the aftermath of a weekend away).

IMG_6322.JPG

The sun was well and truly up when I got up around 7am, and let the dogs out.

IMG_6324.JPG

And yes, that’s Rosie wearing the “cone of shame” – she’s made a big sore on her tail.

IMG_6327.jpg

Spent some time with a  cup of tea, my laptop and my couch buddy.

IMG_6329.jpg

Amy & Kevin headed off. Christy came down dressed for school and sat to write out her lunch order (due to no fresh bread).

IMG_6330.JPG

I started the first of 3 loads of washing (another fun aftermath of a weekend away).

IMG_6332.JPG

I did my normal routine of toast for Christy, feeding all the animals and then watering the veggie garden.

IMG_6334.JPG

It was getting warm and when I checked the forecast saw we’re in for a hot one today. I decided to put the air con on already as I’ve got quite a bit to get done and really don’t feel like being hot and sweaty.

IMG_6336.JPG

After Christy left for school I made a juice…

IMG_6338.JPG

IMG_6341.JPG

which I enjoyed before doing a load of washing up.

IMG_6342.JPG

I then showered, got dressed, made the bed, put an another load of washing. I tidied the kitchen and then my desk.

IMG_6343.JPG

and put some new photos onto the disk for our photo frame.

IMG_6344.JPG

Then I hung out some more washing – both lines were needed today.

IMG_6345.jpg IMG_6346.jpg

For lunch I made a wrap with mexibeans, cheese and salad.

IMG_6347.JPG

Afterwards I put on some music – yep, it’s time for Christmas music….

IMG_6350.JPG

and made some Coconut Banana Bread in my new bowls. I’m gradually replacing all my plastic stuff and it’s so nice cooking with glass and ceramics.

IMG_6349.JPG

Around 2pm I headed out to run a few errands (and get that bread we needed). First stop was the ATM to get some cash..the girls left me with $10.

IMG_6351.JPG

I got my groceries and bread and had a few spare minutes before I had to be at the bus stop. So I limped up to Gloria Jeans and got myself an Iced Chocolate.

IMG_6352.JPG IMG_6353.JPG

Then to pick up the girls from the bus stop.

IMG_6354.JPG

Being so hot the girls wanted some watermelon after school. Christy likes her diced like this. Amy prefers large triangles.

IMG_6355.JPG

The girls then spent time in the pool cooling off. I put my feet up for a bit then bought in the washing, did some ironing and made some mashed potatoes for dinner.

IMG_6357.JPG

I had the idea to put a sock around Rosie’s tail to stop her chewing on. That way I could take the cone off for a bit. And it doesn’t bother her at all.

IMG_6358.JPG

When Kevin got home I got dinner served up. Amy had been good enough to shell all the peas while watching TV earlier. Nothing like fresh peas. Yum!

IMG_6359.JPG

IMG_6360.jpg

As I cleaned up the kitchen Kevin got the dogs their dinner.

IMG_6362.JPG

Then I did a bit of work on my blanket.

IMG_6363.JPG

and spotted a lovely sunset out the back.

IMG_6364.JPG

We watched the last Mentalist and had some pies we had bought at the cafe yesterday. They looked so lovely.

IMG_6367.JPG

And tasted so good with some fresh whipped cream. We shared 2 betwee

IMG_6368.JPG

At 8.30pm I took Christy up to bed and read a chapter of our current book…

IMG_6371.JPG

before putting my feet up and watching some more TV.

IMG_6372.JPG

Around 9.30 I headed to bed. I made the mistake of starting a new book, Vengence In Death and then couldn’t stop reading. It was after 11pm before I put the kindle down.

A Day in my life – 1st November, 2011

Goodness me I can’t believe the date I just typed – can it really be November already?

IMG_5979.JPG

Today started out a little different. After a week of eating so much junk food I’m dedicating today to healthy eating. So instead of my usual cup of tea, I started the day with a glass of water.

IMG_5981.jpg

I caught up on email and read a few blogs. The girls got up and were getting ready for school. Amy needed her uniform ironed so I did that.

IMG_5982.JPG

and stopped to pat Bailey..

IMG_5983.JPG

before assembling the fruit for this mornings juice.

IMG_5984.JPG

Fresh juice for 3….

IMG_5985.JPG

Yum. Kevin had his juice and Amy ate breakfast then they left.

IMG_5987.jpg

Christy packed her lunch for school. Don’t you just love the post-Halloween lollies in the place a sandwich should go (she ordered a toasted cheese sandwich and actually bought home nearly all the lollies).

IMG_5989.JPG

After Christy left for school I had a couple of bananas for my breakfast.

IMG_5991.JPG

I then had my shower and got dressed and left do run a few errands. First was a stop at the school to fill out some uniform orders. Then it was the supermarket…

IMG_1293.jpg

and fruit shop….

IMG_1295.JPG

then bakery. I had a trolley full already so dropped the groceries in the car boot…

IMG_5995.JPG

then went to the health food shop, pet shop (for more fish food as Bailey keeps eating it) and the post office for more stamps.

Back home I made a green smoothie….

IMG_5996.jpg

which I enjoyed while taking a little break.

IMG_5997.JPG

I unpacked a some of groceries and hung out the washing…

IMG_6002.JPG

Then it was time for lunch. Such a lovely day so I enjoyed it out by the pool. I then had a bit of a laze in the sun, but came inside when I felt myself drifting off to sleep!

IMG_6003.JPG

As always, my faithful companions weren’t too far away.

IMG_6005.JPG

My arthritis was acting up so I hung out on the couch for a while before going to get Amy from the bus stop.

IMG_1297.JPG

Christy arrived home and the girls watched a bit of TV while I unpacked some more of the fruit and veg. My poor kitchen – it looked like this for most of the day!

IMG_6013.JPG

At 5pm I ran the girls up to dancing. The pups had to ride in the boot (much to Bailey’s horror).

IMG_6016.JPG

Back home I enjoyed some watermelon and finally got everything unpacked and put away.

IMG_6014.JPG

New fruit bowls…

IMG_6019.JPG

and a fridge packed full of fruit and veg.

IMG_6021.JPG

I’d had a headache developing all afternoon so I put my feet up again with a cup of tea and my laptop (and Bailey)..

IMG_6022.JPG

Kevin got home around 6pm and was good enough to pick up Christy from dancing, and then Amy at 7pm. For the first time in a probably a week we sat and had a family dinner…

IMG_6023.JPG

While the others had pasta with aribatta sauce I enjoyed a yummy Asian coleslaw…the almond ginger dressing (from Peas and Thank you ) was delicious.

IMG_6024.JPG

During dinner Kevin made us all do this colour eye test – I was the only one who could see the coloured numbers!!!

IMG_6025.JPG

I was starting to feel VERY poorly now with a pounding headache so I left the family to clean the kitchen while I had a bath. When I came back down (feeling marginally better) and I found them like this…

IMG_6027.JPG

I made a frozen banana ice-cream (but didn’t like it that much) to have while watching The Mentalist.

IMG_6028.JPG

It was only just after 8.30pm but I thought my head was going to explode, so once again left the family to do the night-time routine of letting the dogs out and putting on the dishwasher. I headed straight to bed. Lights out. No reading. I felt bad not putting Christy to bed but I just couldn’t. Instead she came and saw me. I heard Kevin come in with the dogs a little while later and luckily enough managed to get to sleep fairly easily.

A Day in my Life – 14th October, 2011

Okay, you know the drill….dogs out, kettle on, tea made, blogs read :-). For some strange reason Bailey has taken to lying out for a bit first thing in the morning…

IMG_5596.JPG

I was up around 6am this morning, Amy came down not long after.

Computer time

I went to wake up Christy just on 7am…

Time to get up

then ironed her sports uniform ready for after her shower.

School uniform to be ironed

About 20 past 7 Amy headed out. Kay was picking her up today.

Amy off to school

I had my shower and got ready for the day. No hair or make-up done today as I’m having a facial after lunch.

Shower essentials

I made Christy her toast…

Breakfast

Kevin had to hang around so I got him to work blowing up the Halloween cauldron…

IMG_5614.jpg

Then a HUGE police rescue truck turned up…

Police Rescue truck

with 2 cute police officers to check Kevin’s target shooting guns (this is done every 4 years).

Police rescue checking Kevin's target shooting guns

Then he headed off to work, and not longer after Christy and Shantel left on their bikes.

Off to school

Ah, peace and quiet, and a tidy kitchen…makes for a happy Mum :-).

IMG_5618.JPG

I reheated some of last nights dinner leftovers – Santa Fe Casserole (definitely a keeper recipe) – made a great breakfast too (and Amy said it was nice cold for lunch)

Leftovers for breakfast

I then hung out the washing – under cover as the weather looked unpredictable…

Washing under cover

And got to work sorting through papers on my desk and doing some uniform orders.  Mum came over to say goodbye as they are going away for the weekend. Then the plumbers arrived to look at our water tank plumbing.

Plumbing truck

After they left I tidied up my scrapbooking desk.

Scrapbook desk needing a tidy

It probably took me only 20mins….

Tidied scrapbook desk

I created a new place for sets of photos waiting to be scrapbooked…

Photos to be scrapped

and a place to hang class information…

IMG_5631.jpg

Then it was time for a quick lunch – mexi-bean & salad wrap.

Lunchtime wrap

Some treats for the dogs before I left.

Treat time

I made a quick stop at the pet shop where I got the dogs some new toys then had a facial. Unfortunately Fran had been trying to contact me as she wasn’t feel well but Kevin had done a ungrade on my phone that morning and I wasn’t logged in or something.. so missed lots of calls. Here I am post mini-facial – all glowing and shiny with oily hair :-).

IMG_5643.JPG

Since I had a quicker than planned facial I had time to kill so went to the shops….yes, looking like that…and amazingly didn’t run into anyone I knew :-). This was our main shopping center for many years but had a big upgrade a few years back.

Shopping time

I went to Katies and bought a few tops (yes, I know it’s no spend month)…

Katies - one of my fav. clothing shops

and Susan’s…where I didn’t buy anything…

One of my fav. clothing stores

I did, however, buy an Iced Chocolate from Gloria Jeans…

My favourite Iced Choc

and a few magazines at the Newsagents.

Newsagents

Then it was time to go pick up Amy (and Emerson who was on crutches) from the bus stop. Christy had just arrived home when we got back. Shantel came over to hang out shortly afterwards and the girls cut up some mangos (you’ll notice Bailey waiting for the mango skin), then disappeared upstairs…

Mangos for afternoon tea

I gave the pups their new toy…

IMG_5652.JPG

and 10mins later one looked like this :-(. It’s now been put away until Nan can sew it back up.

Toy after 10mins!!!

Time for another cup of tea… but the container was empty…

Oh, no - out of tea leaves!!

I made a bit of a mess filling it back up.

Tea spillage

Current favourite tea is Dilmah as I can get at the supermarket and it’s an ethical tea.

Current favourite tea

I gave the birds a treat stick and Charlie managed to sneak out for a mad fly around the house – he’s so hard to catch.

Budgies

I then did a bit of scrapbooking, and had to deal with a rude, cheeky Christy who ended up in a time-out.

IMG_5661.JPG

Eventually she went back to play and I went to visit the chooks…

Chickens

whose eggs I had to collect in my t-shirt…

Fresh laid eggs

Kevin got home around 5pm and gave Amy her new phone…

Playing with new phones

The dogs had their heartworm tablet and flea/tick treatment.

Time for heartwowm & flea/tick treatments

and I got to making dinner – tonight was a new reciepe from Peas and Thank You – Black bean burgers…

Making dinner

Good messy fun….

Getting hands dirty

Don’t they look delicious? They were 🙂

New recipe - Black Bean Burgers

Christy had potato and grated cheese.

Dinner for our fussy eater

Amy had her burger on a bun, Kevin and I just had ours with some sweet potato fries.

Dinner is served

I got the kitchen cleaned up, changed into my PJs and put my feet up to watch Great British Menu (I watched this last year – by fluke – and really enjoyed it).

Watching Great British Menu

Afterwards we watch How to Look Good Naked and Christy had an apple slinky for a snack.

IMG_5681.JPG

Bailey is waiting patiently for the skin :-).

Then it was to bed around 9pm for some reading. I finished my book which means I get to pick a new one tomorrow night :-).
