Simple Saturday

Very hard to get out of bed again this morning (hands and feet sore and swollen again) but I did. And I even managed to talk Kevin into coming for a walk with me and dogs this morning. It was nice to have some human company and good chance for us to have a chat.

I made the girls some French Toast for breakfast and decided to have a slice myself. We have ours the Scottish way – with tomato ketchup. Yum.

I then got busy in the kitchen – making bread (for the girls lunch), some lemon cookies and hummus. Christy had a friend over to play and Amy occupied herself on the computer.

Mid-morning I had a cup of tea , a banana and slice of banana cake. I’m trying to teach myself I don’t have to have a cake/cookie with every cup of tea!

I was playing with my new DSLR (Kevin’s spare camera) and the camera was set right so the photos are VERY yellow!

Lunch today was a salad with egg and the homemade hummus.

Amy photographed her lunch today as well. She must have been hungry when she prepared this but only ate 3/4.

This afternoon I played on the computer – working on our holiday plans. I sampled a few of the lemon cookies

IMG_6357

and later served some hummus with turkish bread and veggie chips for Kevin & I to munch on.

IMG_6358

After a spa and more computer time we had another easy dinner of leftover Mushroom and Potato soup with a chunk of homemade bread. So hard to get decent lighting at the dinner table when it’s dark outside.

IMG_6373

I hadn’t planned on having ice-cream tonight but when I had to dish some out for Christy I weakened and did a bowl for myself. Tonight I grated a block of Cadbury fairtrade choc. which was SOOO yummy on the ice cream.

Soup at last

Another lovely walk this morning. I was hungry when I got back so had a cup of tea and a banana muffin.

IMG_6264

An hour later I prepared Christy’s breakfast – just toast today. I really couldn’t decide what I felt like but finally settled on corn thins with hummus and a little grated cheese.

IMG_6266

I then dropped Christy at school and filled a couple of uniform orders. Then I washed my car at the car wash and got stuck behind two half-mobile homes being delivered to the nearby mobile home village.

IMG_0527

I had a cup of tea and headed back out again – this time taking the dogs to get washed. Now I have two lovely soft, yummy smelling pups.

Lunch today was my normal salad – topped with boiled egg and some mayonnaise. Then I spotted some Mexican beans in the fridge and decided to add some of those as well.

IMG_6268

An hour later, tea and some healthy handfuls.

IMG_6270

Some time working on crochet, scrapbooking and cooking some soup for dinner. Snack time involved a bowl of protein crisps.

IMG_6279

Christy had singing lessons his afternoon and I bought a tea to have while I waited. Thankfully I wasn’t even tempted by the fundraiser chocolates sitting on the desk – though I did briefly think one would be nice with my cup of tea :-).

IMG_0531

Dinner was the Mushroom and Potato Soup I had made earlier – the first soup to appear on my blog :-). I’ll try and get the recipe typed up tomorrow.

IMG_6309

It was so nice to just have to heat up the bowl when I got home. The downside to soup is I find it’s pretty easily digested so an hour later I ready for something else. My choice – a slice of bread with some spreadable cheese.

IMG_6312

And I have confess I polished off the rest of Christy’s custard while tidying up the kitchen and had a small handful of tiny teddies with a cup of tea in bed while reading!

Marmalade from Italy???

Up and at ’em this morning with a Red Carpet Ready I Want my Bikini Body workout. It’s been a while since I’ve done a full program so it was rather challenging and I’m sure I’ll be feeling it tomorrow. Val is getting ready to launch a new program and if you follow the link you can see some free videos.

Following my workout I made a green smoothie for Kevin and myself. As usual my GS buddy was close at hand.

IMG_6244

After Christy left for school I made a cup of tea and decided on a Scottish breakfast of marmalade on toast.

IMG_6248

So you can imagine my suprise when I saw my marmalade was from Italy!!!

IMG_6245

I did lots of jobs this morning, including cleaning a rug which I left outside in the sun to dry. The dogs seemed to think I’d put it there just for them and I found them lying on it quite a bit throughout the day.

Pups on rug

Around 11am I had some cruskits with spreadable cheese.

IMG_6249

…which meant I didn’t get hungry for lunch until 1pm. In the meantime I found a couple of new recipes to try as I had 4 bananas to use up. I made a banana date loaf and banana choc chip muffins (but I had to substitute white choc chips).

IMG_6257

For lunch I made a carrot & apple coleslaw I’d seen on carrots ‘n’ cake.  I put it over my normal salad (with egg). It was quite nice but I’d rather have my normal salad.

IMG_6252

Afterwards I tried one of the muffins – very yummy!

By 4pm I was feeling rather tired and my back was VERY sore so I headed into the loungeroom so I could sit with my feet up. I enjoyed a bowl of rockmelon.

IMG_6258

And a piece of the banana date loaf. This was okay but not that nice – don’t think I’d make it again.

IMG_6259

I was supposed to make a vegetable hot pot tonight but decided to make something easier – lentil patty burgers. Patty from the freezer, some fried onions…

IMG_6260

…. on a slice of bread with BBQ sauce, beetroot, tomato and a sprinkle of grated cheese. Delicious!

IMG_6262

I hadn’t planned on having anything after dinner but as Christy was wanting ice-cream I decided to dish up a small bowl for myself 🙂

A productive day

Woke up at 6am with a rather sore back this morning. It tends to get sore when I sit around for long periods of time like I did over the weekend :-(. Oh, well, guess it stops me from being too lazy as I know I’ll suffer later. Anyway, I was out the door with dogs while it still dark but light enough to see safely. I love walking at this time of day – mind you we were too early for the best part of the sunrise :-(.  It was cool out this morning and I had to wear long sleeves AND a jacket.

Back home and getting ready for the day. We saw Amy off – she’s going to camp for the rest of the week and Kevin was dropping her at the train station. Christy and I enjoyed a very quiet breakfast together – she had french toast and I had two of the leftover oat pancakes with some raspberry jam.

IMG_6228

Once Christy headed off the school I got stuck into the housework. Once I was done I had a green smoothie before heading off to get my groceries. I spotted this yummy looking salad and have printed up the recipe to make another day.

IMG_6230

Back home with the groceries. I got everything unpacked and put away. Then it was time for lunch. I had hoped to make the above mention salad but I was too tired at this point so just made the usual. Todays featured topping – leftover Mexican Rice from last night. Tasted good.

IMG_6233

This afternoon I managed to do a bit of scrapbooking while enjoying a cup of tea. I wanted a little “something” so had an ANZAC cookie and small dark orange chocolate bar.

IMG_6234

Later, around 4pm, I had a piece of cape-seed bread with hummus and cheese. I put the grapes from Christy’s lunch in a bowl and munched on them a bit later.

IMG_6240

It was a quiet dinner with Amy being away. I planned an easy dinner of microwave potato topped with mexican beans, cheese and bit of sour cream.

IMG_6241

Later I enjoyed a cup of tea with a banana goji berry muffin (defrosted from the freezer) and some dark chocolate.

IMG_6242

And just before going to bed I had a handful of rice crackers – left over from Christy’s lunch!
